Orbital volume and shape in Treacher Collins syndrome

Orbito-palpebral reconstruction is a challenge in Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS). This study investigates orbital phenotypes in TCS using cephalometry and orbital shape analysis. Eighteen TCS and 52 control patients were included in this study, using the Dr Warehouse database. Orbital cephalometry was based on 20 landmarks, 10 planes, 16 angles, and 22 distances. Orbits were segmented. Registration-based, age-specific mean models were generated using semi-automatic segmentation, and aligned and compared using color-coded distance maps - mean absolute distance (MAD), Hausdorff distance (HD), and Dice similarity coefficient (DSC). Not only is translation of poetry an effective method of teaching poerty in a proper historical context, but also it enhances students acquisition of knowledge about realities of life in foreign countries and different cultures, not to mention the fact that it improves their linguistic competences in both the source and the target languages. What is important, translation is a holistic method, forcing students to think independently.

Abstract In diverse mammalian species, including (man, cow and rat) the very flat endothelial cells of lymphatic vessels of various organs, including the retothelial meshwork of sinus of lymph nodes, are connected by zonula -like plaque-bearing junctions which differ from the similarly structured junctions of blood vessel endothelia by the presence of desmoplakin or an as yet unknown but closely related plaque protein. This article relates loneliness to interaction ritual theory, understanding loneliness in terms of problematic microinteractional dynamics. The advantage of interaction ritual theory is that it extends our understanding of the issue of the psychologised self and related questions such as how loneliness feels or is experienced. Loneliness is here defined as a response to interaction representing relational understanding of emotions. Interaction ritual theory is interested in the emotional consequences that individuals experience from successful or unsuccessful interaction rituals. Cholesteatoma of the hypotympanum in a patient with Treacher Collins syndrome

In the present article we report a cholesteatoma of the hypotympanum extending to the jugular foramen in a 16-year-old male with Treacher Collins syndrome. Preoperative imaging excluded jugular paraganglioma and set the diagnosis of cholesteatoma. We discuss the operative treatment via a large hypotympanotomy and creation of an open hypotympanic cavity. To the authors' knowledge this is the first description of hypotympanal cholesteatoma with such an extension, being treated through this approach.
