Refined instability estimates for some inverse problems
2022
Many inverse problems are known to be ill-posed. The ill-posedness can be manifested by an instability estimate of exponential type, first derived by Mandache [29]. In this work, based on Mandache's idea, we refine the instability estimates for two inverse problems, including the inverse inclusion problem and the inverse scattering problem. Our aim is to derive explicitly the dependence of the instability estimates on key parameters. The first result of this work is to show how the instability depends on the depth of the hidden inclusion and the conductivity of the background medium. This work can be regarded as a counterpart of the depth-dependent and conductivity-dependent stability estim…
Suite of Statistical Models Forecasting Latvian GDP
2014
Abstract We develop a suite of statistical models to forecast Latvian GDP. We employ various univariate and multivariate econometric techniques to obtain short-term GDP projections and to assess the performance of the models. We also comprise the information contained in components of GDP and obtain short-term GDP projections from disaggregated perspective. We run out-of-sample forecasting procedures to evaluate GDP projections and to assess forecasting accuracy of all individual statistical models. We conclude that factor and bridge models are among the best individually performing models in the suite. Forecasting accuracy obtained using disaggregated models of factor and bridge models is …
[60]Fullerene l -Amino Acids and Peptides: Synthesis under Phase-Transfer Catalysis Using a Phosphine–Borane Linker. Electrochemical Behavior
2017
International audience; A new method to link amino acid and peptide derivatives to [60]fullerene is described. It uses hydrophosphination with a secondary phosphine borane. First, the stereoselective synthesis of secondary phosphine borane amino acid derivatives was achieved by alkylation of phenylphosphine borane with gamma-iodo-alpha-amino ester reagents under phase transfer catalysis (PTC). Second, a sec-phosphine borane amino ester was saponified and coupled with alpha,gamma-diamino esters to afford the corresponding dipeptide derivatives in good yields. Finally, the hydrophosphination reaction of [60]fullerene by the sec-phosphine borane compounds was performed under PTC to obtain C-60…
Group Identities on Units of Group Algebras
2000
Abstract Let U be the group of units of the group algebra FG of a group G over a field F . Suppose that either F is infinite or G has an element of infinite order. We characterize groups G so that U satisfies a group identity. Under the assumption that G modulo the torsion elements is nilpotent this gives a complete classification of such groups. For torsion groups this problem has already been settled in recent years.
Some new (s,k,?)-translation transversal designs with non-abelian translation group
1989
For λ >1 and many values of s andk, we give a construction of (s,k,λ)-partitions of finite non-abelian p-groups and of Frobenius groups with non-abelian kernel. These groups are associated with translation transversl designs of the same parameters.
Abelian Sylow subgroups in a finite group, II
2015
Abstract Let p ≠ 3 , 5 be a prime. We prove that Sylow p-subgroups of a finite group G are abelian if and only if the class sizes of the p-elements of G are all coprime to p. This gives a solution to a problem posed by R. Brauer in 1956 (for p ≠ 3 , 5 ).
On second minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of finite groups
2011
A subgroup H of a finite group G is a partial CAP-subgroup of G if there is a chief series of G such that H either covers or avoids its chief factors. Partial cover and avoidance property has turned out to be very useful to clear up the group structure. In this paper, finite groups in which the second minimal subgroups of their Sylow p-subgroups, p a fixed prime, are partial CAP-subgroups are completely classified.
The average number of Sylow subgroups of a finite group
2013
We prove that if the average Sylow number (ignoring the Sylow numbers that are one) of a finite group G is ⩽7, then G is solvable.
A note on Sylow permutable subgroups of infinite groups
2014
Abstract A subgroup A of a periodic group G is said to be Sylow permutable, or S-permutable, subgroup of G if A P = P A for all Sylow subgroups P of G. The aim of this paper is to establish the local nilpotency of the section A G / Core G ( A ) for an S-permutable subgroup A of a locally finite group G.
On some classes of supersoluble groups
2007
[EN] Finite groups G for which for every subgroup H and for all primes q dividing the index |G:H| there exists a subgroup K of G such that H is contained in K and |K:H|=q are called Y-groups. Groups in which subnormal subgroups permute with all Sylow subgroups are called PST-groups. In this paper a local version of the Y-property leading to a local characterisation of Y-groups, from which the classical characterisation emerges, is introduced. The relationship between PST-groups and Y-groups is also analysed.
