One-pot preparation of surface modified boehmite nanoparticles with rare-earth cyclen complexes.
2007
We report on the one-pot synthetic procedure of cyclen derivatives bearing three acetate groups attached on boehmite nanoparticles, the complexing capabilities of these inorganic–organic hybrid materials with rare earth cations, and the behaviour as contrast agents or fluorescence probes. Steel-concrete bond in lightweight fiber reinforced concrete under monotonic and cyclic actions
2005
Experimental results of the local bond stress-slip relationship of reinforcing bars embedded in lightweight fiber reinforced concrete with expanded clay aggregates are presented. The effect of the following parameters were investigated: - dimension of specimens; - anchorage length; - percentages of hooked steel fibers; - geometrical ratio of transverse reinforcement; - confinement external transverse pressure. Prismatic specimens with deformed steel bars embedded for a fixed length equal to five and eight equivalent diameters were tested under both monotonic and cyclic reversal imposed displacements at the tip of the bars, in controlled displacement tests. The influence of the above mention…
Influence of metal ions on the structures of Keggin polyoxometalate-based solids: Hydrothermal syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties
2006
Abstract Three new Keggin polyoxometalate (POM)-based compounds linked to 3d metal complexes have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions: [Cu(phen)2]2{[Cu(phen)]2 [SiMo12O40(VO)2]} (1), {[Zn(phen)2]2[GeMo12O40(VO)2]}{[Zn(phen)2(H2O)]2 [GeMo12O40(VO)2]}·3H2O (2) and {[Co(phen)2]2[PMo12O40(VO)2]}{[Co(phen)2(OH)]2 [PMo12O40(VO)2]}·2.5H2O (3) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline). These three compounds present, as building blocks, the bicapped Keggin anions [XMo12O40(VO)2] (X=Si, Ge and P). Compound 1 consists of a bicapped Keggin anion [SiMo12O40(VO)2]2− linked to two [Cu(phen)]+ complexes with two [Cu(phen)2]+ countercations. Compound 2 contains two bicapped Keggin anions [GeMo12O40(VO)2]4−, one…
Osseous response on linear and cyclic RGD-peptides immobilized on titanium surfaces in vitro and in vivo
2017
Biomimetic surface modifications of titanium implants using the Arg-Gly-Asp-sequence (RGD) are promising to accelerate bone healing in cases of medical implants. Therefore, we compared the impact of linear and cyclic RGD (l- and c-RGD) covalently coupled onto titanium surfaces on the osseous response in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, osteoblasts' behaviour on different surfaces (unmodified, amino-silanized (APTES), l- and c-RGD) was analysed regarding adhesion (fluorescence microscopy), proliferation (resazurin stain) and differentiation (RT-PCR on alkaline phosphatase (AP) & osteocalcin (OC)). In vivo, osteosynthesis screws (unmodified n=8, l-RGD n=8, c-RGD n=8) were inserted into the proxim…
A new chromo-fluorogenic probe based on BODIPY for NO2 detection in air
2014
[EN] A novel colorimetric probe for the selective and sensitive detection of NO2 in solution and in air based on a BODIPY core containing an oxime group has been prepared.
First bodipy–DOTA derivatives as probes for bimodal imaging
2010
The synthesis and the photophysical studies of the first bodipy-DOTA and its In(III), Ga(III) and Cu(II) complexes are reported. The introduction of an isothiocyanate handle generates a new bimodal imaging agent capable of both optical and nuclear imaging.
Chromo-fluorogenic BODIPY-complexes for selective detection of V-type nerve agent surrogates
2014
Two new Eu3+ and Au3+ BODIPY-complexes capable of chromofluorogenically detecting micromolar concentrations of V-type nerve agent surrogates by a simple displacement assay are described
Coupled VEM–BEM Approach for Isotropic Damage Modelling in Composite Materials
2023
Numerical prediction of composite damage behaviour at the microscopic level is still a challenging engineering issue for the analysis and design of modern materials. In this work, we document the application of a recently developed numerical technique based on the coupling between the virtual element method (VEM) and the boundary element method (BEM) within the framework of continuum damage mechanics (CDM) to model the in-plane damage evolution characteristics of composite materials. BEM is a widely adopted and efficient numerical technique that reduces the problem dimensionality due to its underlying formulation. It substantially simplifies the pre-processing stage and decreases the compu…
A HYBRID VEM/BEM NUMERICAL TECHNIQUE FOR SIMULATING DAMAGE IN COMPOSITE MATERIALS
2021
Composite materials are nowadays widely used in the aerospace sector both for primary and secondary structures for their high mechanical properties and the ability to model them according to project needs. Therefore, accurately predicting material behaviour when subjected to operating loads is extremely important in making the design process more efficient. For this purpose, computational approaches based on continuum damage mechanics have been largely used to study the progressive loss of material integrity due to the propagation and coalescence of microscopic defects. In this contribution, a recently developed hybrid computational technique, which combines the Virtual Element Method (VEM)…
Coupling BEM and VEM for the Analysis of Composite Materials with Damage
2021
Numerical tools which are able to predict and explain the initiation and propagation of damage at the microscopic level in heterogeneous materials are of high interest for the analysis and design of modern materials. In this contribution, we report the application of a recently developed numerical scheme based on the coupling between the Virtual Element Method (VEM) and the Boundary Element Method (BEM) within the framework of continuum damage mechanics (CDM) to analyze the progressive loss of material integrity in heterogeneous materials with complex microstructures. VEM is a novel numerical technique that, allowing the use of general polygonal mesh elements, assures conspicuous simplific…
