SINGLE-PEAK RESOLUTION CRITERIA FOR OPTIMIZATION OF MOBILE PHASE COMPOSITION IN LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY
2001
Three criteria that evaluate the single peak resolution (peak purity) in chromatography, the free height fraction, free area fraction, and valley ratio, are examined. The main advantages of these criteria against other criteria based on peak pair separation, are that the measurements are not affected by the identity of neighboring peaks and are normalized, which make them very intuitive. The methodology is illustrated through the isocratic separation of mixtures of several sulphonamides (sulphacetamide, sulphadiazine, sulphadimethoxine, sulphaguanidine, sulphamerazine, sulphamethazine, sulphamethoxazole, sulphamethizole, sulphamonomethoxine, sulphanilamide, sulphapyridine, sulphaquinoxaline…
Modeling And Measurements Of The Arc Plasma In A Mixture Of Gases
2006
Radial distributions of Ar mass fractions and temperatures in plasmas produced in a wall-stabilized arc have been calculated. Modeling have been performed for many different mixtures of Ar+N2 and three different arc currents. The obtained results show that the radial distributions of Ar mass fractions strongly depend on the chemical composition of the plasma. In plasmas containing large amount of Ar the distributions have local minima at the arc axis (in high temperature plasma regions), whereas in plasmas consisting mainly of nitrogen the distributions reveal maxima on the discharge axis. Those features seem to be connected with the dissociation of the nitrogen.
A new approach to the growth of ZnO by vapour transport
2005
The crystal growth of ZnO by vapour transport is classically made in presence of additional species which enhance the growth process. Usually, additional species have been considered as chemical transport agents that promote a typical CVT (Chemical Vapour Transport) process. Recently, we have proposed a new interpretation of the chemical role of some of these species. This new interpretation considers that, in some cases, the additional species promote a partial consumption of the O2 provided by the ZnO decomposition and, consequently, a Zn excess is generated. This excess of Zn pressure activates the ZnO decomposition and the growth rate is enhanced. Among those species, carbon shows an ad…
Composition et cognition musicales : création, perception, appréciation
2005
Chemical and Microbiological Characterization for PDO Labelling of Typical East Piedmont (Italy) Salami
2015
This study is focused on the characterisation of typical salami produced in Alessandria province (North West of Italy). Seventeen small or medium salami producers from this area were involved in the study and provided the samples investigated. The aim is double and consists in obtaining a screening of the characteristics of different products and following their evolution along ripening. The study involved five types of typical salami that were characterised for aroma components and nutritional features. This approach could provide a basis for a possible PDO or PGI label request. Principal Component Analysis and cluster analysis were used as multivariate statistical tools for data treatment…
Modelling and prediction of retention in high-performance liquid chromatography by using neural networks
1995
Multi-layer feed-forward neural networks trained with an error back-propagation algorithm have been used to model retention behaviour of liquid chromatography as a function of the composition of the mobile phases. Conventional hydro-organic and micellar mobile phases were considered. Accurate retention modelling and prediction have been achieved using mobile phases defined by two, three and four parameters. With micellar mobile phases, the parameters involved included the concentrations of surfactant and organic modifier, pH and temperature. It is shown that neural networks provide a competitive tool to model varied inherent nonlinear relationships of retention behaviour with respect to the…
In the places of “Fragmenta”
2021
Emerging brominated flame retardants and dechlorane-related compounds in European eels (Anguilla anguilla) from Latvian lakes
2017
Abstract Fifteen halogenated flame retardants (HFRs) including seven emerging brominated flame retardants (EBFRs) and eight dechlorane-related compounds (DRCs) were analyzed in eels (Anguilla anguilla) sampled from five Latvian lakes. Out of the seven EBFRs, hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) and decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) were found in eels in quantifiable concentrations, up to 6.58 and 33.0 ng g−1 lipid weight (l.w.), respectively. The mean total concentration of DRCs (∑DRC) in the samples was 0.62 ng g−1 l.w. and the geographical distribution of DRC contamination was nearly uniform among the selected lakes. Dechlorane 602 (Dec 602) was the predominant component, whereas the composition …
Measurement of the cosmic ray composition at the knee with the SPASE-2/AMANDA-B10 detectors
2004
The mass composition of high-energy cosmic rays at energies above 1015 eV can provide crucial information for the understanding of their origin. Air showers were measured simultaneously with the SPASE-2 air shower array and the AMANDA-B10 Cherenkov telescope at the South Pole. This combination has the advantage to sample almost all high-energy shower muons and is thus a new approach to the determination of the cosmic ray composition. The change in the cosmic ray mass composition was measured versus existing data from direct measurements at low energies. Our data show an increase of the mean log atomic mass 〈lnA〉 by about 0.8 between 500 TeV and 5 PeV. This trend of an increasing mass throug…
Aircraft-based observations of isoprene-epoxydiol-derived secondary organic aerosol (IEPOX-SOA) in the tropical upper troposphere over the Amazon reg…
2018
During the ACRIDICON-CHUVA field project (September–October 2014; based in Manaus, Brazil) aircraft-based in situ measurements of aerosol chemical composition were conducted in the tropical troposphere over the Amazon using the High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft (HALO), covering altitudes from the boundary layer (BL) height up to 14.4 km. The submicron non-refractory aerosol was characterized by flash-vaporization/electron impact-ionization aerosol particle mass spectrometry. The results show that significant secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation by isoprene oxidation products occurs in the upper troposphere (UT), leading to increased organic aerosol mass concentratio…
