Influence of temperature on the oviposition rate and longevity ofOpius concolor siculus [Hymenoptera: Braconidae]
1974
The author has studied the influence of different temperatures (22°, 24°, 26°, 28°C) on oviposition and longevity ofOpius concolor siculusMon., studying separately 13 couples at 22°, 15 at 24°, 100 at 26° and 11 at 28°C.
Resistance of Conifer Needle Polyolefin Composites (CNPCs) Against Biodecomposition Caused by Fungi
2017
This study describes the resistance of composites filled with conifer needles to biodecomposition processes caused by a single strain of Aspergillus niger as well as by a consortium of microorganisms present in the compost substrates (forest or spent mushroom composts). The impact of various types of conifer needles on the growth of A. niger was studied to determine whether the filler can show the fungistatic effect. The changes in chemical composition of the composites surfaces were examined using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR/ATR). The results showed that the fungistatic effects of conifer needles polyolefin composites (CNPCs) were associated w…
Real-time PCR detection of Ochroconis lascauxensis involved in the formation of black stains in the Lascaux Cave, France
2012
A real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay was developed to detect and quantify Ochroconis lascauxensis in the Lascaux Cave in France. This fungus is the principal causal agent of the black stains threatening the Paleolithic paintings of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The black stains outbreak could not be stopped in spite of using intensive biocide treatments. A sensitive and time-saving protocol is needed for determining the extent of the colonization. Sets of primers that target the ITS and RPB2 regions were designed and evaluated for specificity against O. lascauxensis. Genomic DNA extracted from five species of Ochroconis and 13 other fungal species frequently isolated from ca…
Assessment of fungi proliferation and diversity in cultural heritage: Reactions to UV-C treatment.
2018
International audience; Fungi are present in natural and non-touristic caves due to the presence of organic matter provided mainly by insects or animals such as bats. In show caves, however, tourist infrastructure and the visitors themselves are an important source of organic matter. In addition, photosynthetic biofilms provide a high amount of carbon and nitrogen sources for fungi. This study was conducted to identify the fungal communities present in caves along with the potential use of UV-C treatment against their proliferation. Thus, fungal communities proliferating in biofilms in six French and Swiss show caves were analyzed using high throughput sequencing. The results show 385 speci…
The Role of Zr in the High-Temperature Oxidation of Fe3Al
2008
The paper describes an examination of the effect of the addition of zirconium as a third element on the heat-resisting properties and explains the high temperature oxidation mechanism of Fe3Al intermetallic compounds. The Fe3Al and Fe3Al-0,05Zr specimens have been isothermally oxidized in the temperature range of 1173-1473 K in synthetic air for 100 hrs. The formed oxide layer, about 1,5-2 μm thick, was Al2O3. An examination of the cross-sectioned scales by SEM-EDS showed that the alumina layer consisted of a small inner columnar layer and an outer equiaxed grain layer. Additionally, very fine (50-150 nm) oxide grains rich in Zr, further identified as ZrO2, were found across the alumina sca…

Il matrimonio, fondamento della famiglia. Nuove relazioni di coppia, nuove forme familiari
2016
Fructan Biosynthesis by Intra- and Extracellular Zymomonas mobilis Levansucrase after Simultaneous Production of Ethanol and Levan
2003
Summary The chemical composition of the Zymomonas mobilis biomass and the culture liquid after ethanol and levan synthesis were studied. The activities of intra- and extracellular levansucrase produced by the Z. mobilis strain 113 ”S” under optimum conditions both for levan and fructooligosaccharide (FOS) synthesis were also determined. It was shown that levan production relates to the reduction of the carbohydrate and lipid content in the biomass by increasing the nucleic acid and protein content. The levan producing activity of cellular levansucrase after ethanol and levan synthesis was approximately 30–40% of the total activity in the second fermentation stage. It was established that th…
Control of food spoilage fungi by ethanol
2011
This review discusses the effects of ethanol on the inhibition of growth and germination of fungi and on the inactivation of fungal spores. After a brief survey on the impact of spoilage fungi on the economy and food quality, the major applications of ethanol in controlling fruit decay and extending the shelf-life of food products are reviewed. Many parameters including minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and D-values for various moulds are included. The thermodynamic relationship between the liquid phase and the headspace and the mode of action of ethanol on fungi are explained. Due to their promising use as a fumigant, special attention is paid to ethanol vapours.
Effective copolymerization of ethylene with α,ω-alkenols and homopolymerization of α,ω-alkenols catalyzed by aminophenolate zirconium complex
2019
Abstract A zirconium complex of diamine-bis(phenolate) ligand, [(tBu2O2NN’)ZrCl]2(μ-O) where (tBu2O2NN’) = Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2–2-O−-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)2, activated with (iBu)3Al/Ph3CB(C6F5)4, was for the first time used in copolymerization of ethylene with unsaturated alcohols (CH2 = CH(CH2)nCH2OH, where n = 7, 8, 3). The hydroxyl groups of comonomers were protected with R3-xAlClx (where x = 0 or 1, R = iBu, Et). In contrast to the formerly reported catalysts, the activity of this catalyst is much higher in ethylene/alkenols copolymerization than in ethylene homopolymerization and its lifetime is long. Moreover, the copolymers with high polar comonomer contents (up to 16.4 mol%, 52.3 wt%) were produ…
