Transnational return? On the interrelation of family, remigration, and transnationality – An introduction

2016

AbstractThe focus topic on “Transnational Return? Family Constellations, Expectations, and Negotiations in Remigration” focuses on the meaning of family systems in remigration and the impacts remigration has on family systems. Return processes are characterized by and constructed through hybrid and highly individual as well as familiar remigration decisions, including transnational patterns. Therefore, remigration is increasingly a transnational return. The issue addresses in five articles the reciprocal relationship between remigration and family, the significance of family, the different family constellations and expectations, and highlights the manners, negotiation patterns, and (transna…

"Naissance, consécration et disparition (?) d'une convention de la constitution: l'exemple de la réserve parlementaire"

2020

This study illustrates the relevance of the concept of « political law » to understand the constitutional law of the French Fifth Republic. Its purpose is to highlight, through the example of the « réserve parlementaire », the normativity of some facts (the existence of the « réserve parlementaire » preceded its consecration by written law), and the inability of written law to fully seize political practices. The prohibition of the « reserve parlementaire » by written law (in 2017) will be legally effective only as long it is politically accepted.

Routine Coronary Angiography is Still the Key Test for Patients Eligible for Lung Transplantation Also for Those With No Symptoms and With High Risk …

2022

Background. Coronary artery disease (CAD) has a considerable morbidity and mortality effect on the outcomes of a lung transplant. Currently, coronary angiography is performed as part of the pretransplant evaluation process. Unfortunately, there are no clear guidelines about performing cardiac angiography in lung transplant candidates. Background. The aim of our work is to find a correlation between cardiovascular risk and coronary arterial status to optimize the selection of patients for coronary angiography prior transplantation. Methods. We retrospectively analyzed 48 patients in whom coronary angiography and cardiac catheterization was performed during assessment for bilateral lung trans…

Energy efficiency improvement in hospital buildings, based on the example of a selected type of hospital facility in Poland

2019

Abstract Energy demand in hospitals is of highly diverse nature: heat energy, cool energy and electricity. A guarantee of energy supply is required to ensure continuity of medical procedures. Taking care of the lowest possible costs of hospital operations, special attention should be paid to energy efficiency of the installations used in the hospital buildings. The paper presents an analysis of energy demand for heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting in an example hospital in Poland. The selected object was considered a reference as it was built according to a repetitive construction plan, according to which several dozen other hospitals were built in Poland. On the basis of data from 2…

Towards efficient inductive synthesis: Rapid construction of local regularities

2006

Given several input/output examples of some function we can state the problem: what is the “simplest” function which complies with these examples. This problem is well studied and is known to be very hard in the general case. In this paper we address a special case of the problem, when the target function can be expressed as a simple composition of known functions. We propose a new inductive synthesis algorithm for this case and show that it is efficient enough to synthesize complex geometry formulas.

New Perspectives and Challenges in Traffic and Transportation Engineering Supporting Energy Saving in Smart Cities—A Multidisciplinary Approach to a …

2022

Transportation, like other spheres of human activity, is constantly changing due to economic development. People are constantly improving the ways of moving using various energy sources, expanding infrastructures, and adapting cities to increasing traffic volumes. An efficient, modern, and demand-driven transportation infrastructure is the strength of a growing economy. The development of transportation improves the accessibility of regions and labor markets and reduces the nuisance caused by congestion. All these elements translate into economic benefits, competitiveness, increased productivity of enterprises and regions, as well as social benefits. However, transport consumes enormous ene…

Optimal Tree Decompositions Revisited: A Simpler Linear-Time FPT Algorithm

2020

In 1996, Bodlaender showed the celebrated result that an optimal tree decomposition of a graph of bounded treewidth can be found in linear time. The algorithm is based on an algorithm of Bodlaender and Kloks that computes an optimal tree decomposition given a non-optimal tree decomposition of bounded width. Both algorithms, in particular the second, are hardly accessible. We present the second algorithm in a much simpler way in this paper and refer to an extended version for the first. In our description of the second algorithm, we start by explaining how all tree decompositions of subtrees defined by the nodes of the given tree decomposition can be enumerated. We group tree decompositions …
