The contribution, divided between history and representation, aims to analyse the design genesis and the sources used by the architect Giovanni Amico for the modernization of the Immacolatella church’s tribune in Trapani (since 1732). The church is devoid of studies and surveys with digital instrumentation but its unique compositional characteristics, which exploit the theme of the manipulation of space and light for scenographic and liturgical purposes, require in-depth analysis. The contribution presented here is part of a work-in-progress project, which has as its focus the “extra-moenia” urban transformations suffered by the city of Palermo after World War II, with the aim of cataloging, reconstructing and restoring the remarkable heritage -lost in the years of the economic boom and building speculation- in three-dimensional virtual images. The Annunziata church was destroyed by the bombings of the Allies on May 9 1943 on the city of Palermo. However, important evidence remains of the church, built at the end of the 16th century and located near the San Giorgio gate: a 1832 drawing by Pierre-Joseph Garrez, preserved in Paris, at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the survey of the architect Nino Pollaci of the early twentieth century, a series of historical photos, the surviving architectural fragments such as the capitals and the painted wooden coffered ceiling, preserved in various Palermitan museums, and above all the bell tower, still the only trace on the site of the now disappeared church of the Annunziata. Il contributo ha l’obiettivo di studiare alcuni casi di ricostruzione dell’abside eseguiti in edifici chiesastici palermitani nella seconda metà del XVI secolo. Si tratta delle chiese di San Sebastiano, San Francesco d’Assisi e San Martino delle Scale (all’interno dell’omonima abbazia), in cui, nella seconda metà del Cinquecento, per motivi liturgici, l’abside originaria viene “trasformata”, in un’abside “piatta”, al fine di potervi inserire il Coro ligneo.
