Depressed patients frequently report a subjective slowing of the passage of time. However, experimental demonstrations of altered time perception in depressed patients are not conclusive. We added a timed action task (time-to-contact estimation, TTC) and compared this indirect time perception task to the more direct classical methods of verbal time estimation, time production, and time reproduction. In the TTC estimation task, the deviations of the estimates from the veridical values (relative errors) revealed no differences between depressed patients (n = 22) and healthy controls (n = 22). Neither did the relative errors of the TTC estimates differ between groups. There was a weak trend to…
Ethnic and Religious Conflicts in France
2011
International audience; This chapter presents a detailed analysis of current and historical interethnic relations in France. Kamiejski, De Oliveira, and Guimond apply several theories in exploration of the variables related to the development of the existent ethnic tensions in this region. Policy models are also evaluated and considered as means of engendering harmony in the future. Discussion of the most recent and largest immigrant group to France, the Maghrebians, reveals several factors associated with increasing tensions including the large degree of assumed difference in values, religion, and culture. The authors recognize that France has set the stage for positive interethnic relatio…
Recommendations for eye care during the alarm state by the coronavirus disease pandemic COVID-19.
2020
Abstract Objective Minimize exposure to the SARS-CoV-2, reduce the chances of cross-transmission between patients and healthcare personnel, and prevent the development of postoperative complications from the management of patients with eye diseases during the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19). Methods COVID-19 literature review and consensus establishment between different Spanish ophthalmology societies in order to provide guidelines and recommendations of maximum resources primarily conditioned by the state of alert, confinement and social distancing that occurs in Spain since March 16, 2020. Results The recommendations will promote the adoption of action and protection measure…
FEM and experimental analysis of a total knee prosthesis
2018
In this study, a comparison between two different approaches used to study a total knee prosthesis is presented. In particular, the contact area of the components of knee prosthesis has been evaluated using both a numerical and an experimental approach. The numerical analysis has been performed by FEM Models, whereas the experimental study has been conducted using an ultrasonic-based method. To setup the FEM simulations, CAD Models of the components of the prosthesis have been reconstructed using a classic reverse engineering approach. Obtained results has allowed evaluating the contact area of the components of the prosthesis and demonstrated a very good level of correlation between numeri…
Ohmic Contacts on p-Type Al-Implanted 4H-SiC Layers after Different Post-Implantation Annealings
2019
This paper reports on the electrical activation and Ohmic contact properties on p-type Al-implanted silicon carbide (4H-SiC). In particular, the contacts were formed on 4H-SiC-implanted layers, subjected to three different post-implantation annealing processes, at 1675 °
Efficient Vacuum Deposited P-I-N Perovskite Solar Cells by Front Contact Optimization.
2020
Hole transport layers HTLs are of fundamental importance in perovskite solar cells PSCs , as they must ensure an efficient and selective hole extraction, and ohmic charge transfer to the corresponding electrodes. In p i n solar cells, the ITO HTL is usually not ohmic, and an additional interlayer such as MoO3 is usually placed in between the two materials by vacuum sublimation. In this work, we evaluated the properties of the MoO3 TaTm TaTm is the HTL N4,N4,N4 amp; 8243;,N4 amp; 8243; tetra [1,1 amp; 8242; biphenyl] 4 yl [1,1 amp; 8242; 4 amp; 8242;,1 amp; 8243; terphenyl] 4,4 amp; 8243; diamine hole extraction interface by selectively annealing either MoO3 prior to the deposition of TaTm o…
Growth and characterization of horizontally suspended CNTs across TiN electrode gaps.
2010
A technique is proposed to grow horizontal carbon nanotubes (CNTs) bridging metal electrodes and to assess their electrical properties. A test structure was utilized that allows for selective electrochemical sidewall catalyst placement. The selectivity of the technique is based on the connection of the desired metal electrodes to the silicon substrate where the potential for electrochemical deposition was applied. Control over the Ni catalyst size (15-30 nm) and density (up to 3 x 10(11) particles cm(-2)) is demonstrated. Horizontal CNTs with controlled diameter and density were obtained by CVD growth perpendicular to the sidewalls of patterned TiN electrode structures. Electrode gaps with …
Interstitial defects in diamond: A quantum mechanical simulation of their EPR constants and vibrational spectra
2020
The local geometry, electronic structure, and vibrational features of three vicinal double interstitial defects in diamond, ICIC, ICIN, and ININ, are investigated and compared with those of three "simple" ⟨100⟩ interstitial defects, ICC, ICN, and INN, previously reported by Salustro et al. [Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 20, 16615 (2018)], using a similar quantum mechanical approach based on the B3LYP functional constructed from Gaussian-type basis sets, within a supercell scheme, as implemented in the CRYSTAL code. For the first time, the Fermi contact term and hyperfine coupling tensor B of the four open shell structures, ICIC, ICIN, ICC, and ICN, are evaluated and compared with the available ex…
Chemical disorder and Pb207 hyperfine fields in the magnetoelectric multiferroic Pb(Fe1/2Sb1/2)O3 and its solid solution with Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3
2018
We report on the results of magnetic susceptibility, electron paramagnetic resonance, and $^{207}\mathrm{Pb}$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies of the magnetoelectric multiferroic $\mathrm{Pb}(\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}_{1/2}\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{b}}_{1/2}){\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ (PFS) ceramic, as well as its solid solution with $\mathrm{Pb}(\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}_{1/2}\mathrm{N}{\mathrm{b}}_{1/2}){\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ (PFN) of different degrees of the 1:1 ordering of magnetic $\mathrm{F}{\mathrm{e}}^{3+}$ and nonmagnetic $\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{b}}^{5+}$ ions. The ordering has been studied by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and NMR methods. In particular, two spectral lines, originating from the ordered and dis…
Use of Biochar as Filler for Biocomposite Blown Films: Structure-Processing-Properties Relationships
2021
In this work, biocomposite blown films based on poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) as biopolymeric matrix and biochar (BC) as filler were successfully fabricated. The materials were subjected to a film-blowing process after being compounded in a twin-screw extruder. The preliminary investigations conducted on melt-mixed PBAT/BC composites allowed PBAT/BC 5% and PBAT/BC 10% to be identified as the most appropriate formulations to be processed via film blowing. The blown films exhibited mechanical performances adequate for possible application as film for packaging, agricultural, and compost bags. The addition of BC led to an improvement of the elastic modulus, still maintaining h…
