Fetal Calf Serum-Free Generation of Functionally Active Murine Dendritic Cells Suitable for In Vivo Therapeutic Approaches

Standard protocols to generate mouse dendritic cells (DC) generally use culture medium supplemented with fetal calf serum; however, reinjection in vivo of DC cultured in fetal calf serum results in priming to xenogeneic proteins that clearly limits the use of such DC. We therefore established a fetal calf serum-free culture system for the generation of murine DC from bone marrow precursors. DC can be generated fetal calf serum-free using RPMI supplemented with 1.5% syngeneic mouse serum. Surface investigation of plasma HMDSO membranes post-treated by CF4/Ar plasma

Fluorination treatment has been performed on polysiloxane membranes using a plasma glow discharge of a gases mixture CF4 and argon (plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition). Atomic force microscopy, XPS analyses and contact angle measurements have been undertaken to explain the surface transformation and behavior, which strongly depend on the morphology, the composition and the hydrophilic/hydrophobic character of the plasma-polymerized initial membranes. Non-target and suspected-target screening for potentially hazardous chemicals in food contact materials: investigation of paper straws

A non-target screening strategy was developed for the safety evaluation of potentially hazardous chemicals in paper food contact materials (FCMs). A tentative list of suspect analytes was generated using publicly available FCM substance inventories, the presence of contaminants in paper straws was confirmed by high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry. International audience; This paper describes the use of a suite of extraction procedures applicable to the assessment of the in vitro toxicity of paper/board samples intended for food-contact applications. The sample is extracted with ethanol, water, or exposed to modified polyphenylene oxide (Tenax) for fatty, non-fatty and dry food applications, respectively. The water extracts are directly suitable for safety assessment using in vitro bioassays. The ethanol extracts of the paper/board and of the exposed Tenax require pre-concentration to give acceptable sensitivity. Halloysite nanotubes with fluorinated cavity: an innovative consolidant for paper treatment

AbstractHybrid material based on halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) and sodium perfluorooctanoate (NaPF8) was used as a consolidant for paper treatment. The consolidation efficiency was determined by thermogravimetry as well as by paper grammage determination. Search for extra dimensions in diphoton events from proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV in the ATLAS detector at the LHC

The large difference between the Planck scale and the electroweak scale, known as the hierarchy problem, is addressed in certain models through the postulate of extra spatial dimensions. A search for evidence of extra spatial dimensions in the diphoton channel has been performed using the full set of proton–proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV recorded in 2011 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Contact hypersensitivity to disodium hexachloroplatinate in mice.

Complex platinum (Pt) compounds are known as occupational respiratory sensitizers whereas their role in skin exposure is unclear. In this study, both skin irritation and induction of contact hypersensitivity by halide Pt salts were characterized in mice. Repeated application of Na2[PtCl6] (5% in acetone) to both ears of naive BALB/c mice induced activation of the draining auricular lymph nodes. Flow cytometric analysis revealed a striking increase in the number of lymph node cells expressing proliferating cell nuclear antigen. Focal topographic changes in inflammatory microcirculation associated with lymphocyte slowing and transmigration

Microcirculation is the primary mechanism for delivering lymphocytes to inflammatory tissues. Blood flow within microvessels ensures a supply of lymphocytes at the blood-endothelial interface. Whether the structure of the inflammatory microcirculation facilitates lymphocyte transmigration is less clear. The essay addresses the topic of technological evolution in the payment system, focusing on the figure of contactless payment cards and the issue of unauthorized use by the holder. Having defined the discipline of payment instruments and the liability regime of payment service providers under the PSD2, the contribution examines the decision of the ECJ in the Deniz Bank case. It makes some critical remarks with respect to the methodological approach of the Court, marked by an unjustified interpretative formalism and li le inclined to an exegesis based on the parameter of efficiency, according to the models offered by Economic Analysis of Law.
