Effects of marathon fatigue on running kinematics and economy

International audience; The influence of marathon fatigue on both running kinematics and economy was investigated with 8 subjects. The measurements included a treadmill test at 3 steady submaximal speeds performed before and after the marathon. One complete left leg cycle was videotaped at 100 Hz from the left side at each speed. The analysis included contact time (braking and push-off') and flight time as well as displacements and angular velocities of the left hip and knee. This analysis was complemented by the measurements of the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the gastrocnemius muscle at each running velocity, and energy expenditure (E) of the last 30.s at the 2 slowest speeds. Segregation in Drying Binary Colloidal Droplets

When a colloidal suspension droplet evaporates from a solid surface, it leaves a characteristic deposit in the contact region. These deposits are common and important for many applications in printing, coating, or washing. By the use of superamphiphobic surfaces as a substrate, the contact area can be reduced so that evaporation is almost radially symmetric. While drying, the droplets maintain a nearly perfect spherical shape. Here, we exploit this phenomenon to fabricate supraparticles from bidisperse colloidal aqueous suspensions. This article describes the process of preparation and implementation of a data collection enterprise targeting Italo-Romance emigrant languages in North and South America. This data collection is part of the ERC Microcontact project, which aims to understand language change in contact by examining the language of Italian communities in the Americas.
Ahromatopsijas izpausmju korekcija ar krāsainām kontaktlēcām

MĒRĶIS: Novērtēt filtru kontaktlēcu (KL) pielietojumu ahromatopsijas simptomu korekcijai. METODE: Pētījumā piedalījās 8 dalībnieki (6 sievietes un 2 vīrieši) vecumā no 8 mēnešiem līdz 25 gadiem, periodā no 2012. līdz 2016.gadam. Pēc oftalmoloģiskās pārbaudes un ahromatopsijas noteikšanas, tika veikta speciālās krāsainās KL pielaikošanas procedūra. Pacientu atbildes tika noteiktas ar anketas palīdzību un noteikts apžilbšanas laiks ar un bez piedāvātām KL. SECINĀJUMI: filtru KL samazināja fotofobiju; apžilbšanas laiks kļuvis salīdzināms ar normālā redzes gadījumu; dalībnieki atzinīgi novērtē psiholoģiskos un sociālos ieguvumus ar izrakstītām filtru KL.

Enhancement of structural, functional and antioxidant properties of fish gelatin films using Maillard reactions

International audience; This study investigates the effect of Maillard reactions (MR) on the physico-chemical and biological properties of fish gelatin based edible films. Glucose was incorporated in gelatin film forming solutions at different glucose/lysine molar ratios: 0.5/1.0, 1.0/1.0 and 5.0/1.0. The MR was then induced by heating films at 90 °C for 24 h in dry conditions. Color changes and browning index measurements were used to pursue the MR kinetic. Results showed that the development of MR products was dependent on the glucose content and on the reaction time.
