The main instruments to assess foot eversion have some limitations (especially for field applications), and therefore it is necessary to explore new methods. The objective was to determine the relationship between foot eversion and skin temperature asymmetry of the foot sole (difference between medial and lateral side), using infrared thermography. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of fatigue induced by a 65-km ultramarathon on the oxygen cost of running (Cr) and cycling (Ccycl). The day before and immediately after the race, a group of nine well-trained male subjects performed two sub-maximal 4-min exercise bouts: one cycling at a power corresponding to 1.5 W · kg−1 body mass on an electromagnetically braked ergometer, and one running at 11 km · h−1 on a flat asphalt roadway. The aim of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the German version of the revised Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (VRAG), the VRAG-R. Therefore, VRAG-R ratings were made retrospectively in an Austrian sample of 534 individuals convicted of a sexual offense who were followed up with an average of 7.62 years. The VRAG-R showed large effect sizes for the predictive accuracy of violent (AUC = .75) and general recidivism (AUC = .78) and significant but rather small effect sizes (AUC = .63 and .61, respectively) in predicting any sexual and sexual contact recidivism. Tear proteomic studies revealed distinct similarities between contact lens wearers and dry eye patients. AMO Complete® multipurpose contact lens cleaning solutions containing taurine seem to have a beneficial effect regarding contact lens induced dry eye. A photocontact dermatitis developed in three patients after the application of gel containing 0.5% piroxicam. Patch tests were positive to thiomersal and thiosalicylic acid. Photopatch tests with piroxicam at several concentrations were positive in the three patients but negative in 62 normal volunteer subjects. Patch tests performed on 14 patients with proved systemic photosensitivity to piroxicam were positive for thiomersal and thiosalicylic acid. Nine of 12 patients previously sensitized to thiosalicylic acid and with no history of exposure to piroxicam showed positive photopatch test reactions to this chemical. Purpose To compare the optical and visual performance of a dual-focus (DF) contact lens used for myopia control with a single-vision (SV) contact lens of the same material.
