Patients and methods: report of 10 cases; evaluation of effectiveness, morbidity and mortality of treatment. Setting: Section of General and Thoracic Surgery, AOUP “Paolo Giaccone”, University of Palermo. Procedure: endoscopic drainage was performed in all 10 patients, with 2 cysto-gastrostomy, 5 cysto-duodenostomy and 3 trans-papillary cystic drainage. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have an increased risk of developing intestinal cancer. The magnitude of that increased risk as well as how best to mitigate it remain a topic of ongoing investigation in the field.
