The correlation between children and maternal coping strategies is also investigated. The participants involved were an experimental group of 40 children with ALL and their mothers, and 30 healthy children as the control group. In vitro investigation of the impact of remaining tooth structure on the tensile failure loads of overdenture copings
2019
Background The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the impact of the remaining tooth structure on the retention of overdenture cast metal copings. Material and Methods A freshly extracted intact mandibular human canine (length 25 mm) was selected and endodontically treated. An incisal reduction of 4 mm with no ferrule preparation was performed and a post space of 12 mm was created. By using polyvinyl siloxane duplication material and autopolymerizing polymethylmethacrylate resin, ten resin teeth analogs (control group) were obtained. A second set of ten resin teeth analogs (group 1) was created by preparing on the original natural tooth a 360o ferrule design of 1 mm in height and…

Solastalgia's mourning and the slowly evolving effect of asbestos pollution: A qualitative study in Italy
2019
In Italy, the problem of asbestos pollution is increasing in severity. In fact, in recent years, the number of people affected by asbestos-related illnesses has been growing because of the fibre's slowly evolving effects and its progressive pollution in the environment adjacent to the places where it is processed. Even though the physical consequences of asbestos are now quite clear, few studies have examined the psychological consequences of this kind of disaster. Since it is difficult to perceive its pathogenicity in daily life, this study was conducted in the affected areas of north-eastern Italy, using the qualitative research in psychology with 51 persons who experienced asbestos-relat…
The measurement of coping in achievement situations: an international comparison
2001
Abstract English and German versions of a newly developed instrument for measuring coping with achievement stressors (the Mainz Coping Inventory — Ego Threat; MCI-E) were presented to samples of American and German students. Equivalence of the two versions was determined by principal component and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The CFA included a multiple group analysis. This analysis was employed to compare factor patterns, loadings, factor variances and covariances across the two samples. In addition, relationships between the coping instrument and tests which are already established in English and German versions (among others, the NEO Five Factors Inventory, the State-Trait Persona…

The techniques of DIR/Floortime™ have taken a certain momentum in our country. The aim of this article is to analyze the evidence on the efficacy of these techniques for which four databases have been searched (PsychArticles, ERIC, PubMed and Medline). After refining the documents found by applying the inclusion/exclusion criteria, only 18 empirical studies were detected (7 single case studies, 3 quasi-experimental studies and 6 randomized clinical trials). Two of the studies are re-analyses of previous studies or follow-up studies. Once the different studies have been evaluated, it is concluded that more research is needed on the techniques of DIR/Floortime™. Although the evidence points t…
