L'evento persona
2018
Sampling procedure in a willow plantation for chemical elements important for biomass combustion quality
2015
Willow (Salix spp.) is expected to contribute significantly to the woody bioenergy system in the future, so more information on how to sample the quality of the willow biomass is needed. The objectives of this study were to investigate the spatial variation of elements within shoots of a willow clone ‘Tordis’, and to reveal the relationship between sampling position, shoot diameters, and distribution of elements. Five Tordis willow shoots were cut into 10–50 cm sections from base to top. The ash content and concentration of twelve elements (Al, Ca, Cd, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Si, and Zn) in each section were determined. The results showed large spatial variation in the distribution of mos…
Reactivity of commercial silicon and silicides towards copper(I) chloride. Effect of aluminium, calcium and iron on the formation of copper silicide
1998
Abstract The reaction of CuCl with silicon, containing Al, Fe and Ca as impurities, or with silicides (Si2Ca, Si2Fe, Si2Al2Ca, Si8Al6Fe4Ca) has been investigated in the temperature range 200–300°C. For the reaction between CuCl and commercial Si, it was found that, at 282°C, aluminium promotes the reaction between Cu3Si and CuCl while the rate of consumption of Cu3Si is greatly reduced by the presence of iron. The combined action of these two impurities leads to the formation of more copper–silicon alloy. In the presence of mixed silicides, the reaction with CuCl also leads to the formation of Cu3Si. For the quaternary Al–Ca silicide containing iron the rate of formation of Cu3Si is not inc…
Multiarm cyclam-grafted mesoporous silica: a strategy to improve the chemical stability of silica materials functionalized with amine ligands
2009
We have explored in this work the stability and the reactivity of multiarm cyclam-grafted mesoporous silica samples in aqueous solution. A series of hybrid materials have been prepared by grafting silylated cyclam molecules bearing one, two, or four silyl groups onto both amorphous silica gel (K60) and ordered mesoporous silica (SBA15). Under these conditions, cyclam moieties are attached to the silica walls via one, two, or four arms. Various physicochemical techniques have been applied to characterize the functionalized solids (elemental analysis, 1H-29Si and 1H-13C CPMAS NMR, and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms). The interest in two and four arms for improving the chemical stability i…
Coordination environment friendly silicon in copper(I) chloride π-complexes with tetravinylsilane and dimethyltetravinyldisiloxane
2011
Abstract Two crystal complexes of copper(I) chloride with tetravinylsilane (TVS) dimethyltetravinyldisiloxane (DMTVDS) were prepared and examined by IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction: sp. gr. P2/a, Z = 4, a = 13.428(1) A, b = 7.9584(7) A, c = 14.694(1) A for [Cu4Cl4(TVS)]; sp. gr. P21/c, a = 10.505(1) A, b = 13.487(1) A, c = 13.870(1) A for [Cu4Cl4(DMTVDS)]. The influence of the vinylsilicon ligands on the efficiency of the Cu⋯C C interaction is discussed. Thus, the consideration of dSi ← π∗C C ← dCu conjugate system may help to understand how the silicon π-acceptor properties influence on the degree of trigonal distortion of the Cu(I) coordination tetrahedron as well as on the inorgani…
Reactivity of antitumor coinage metal-based N-heterocyclic carbene complexes with cysteine and selenocysteine protein sites
2021
Abstract The reaction of the antitumor M(I)-bis-N-heterocyclic carbene (M(I)-NHC) complexes, M = Cu, Ag, and Au, with their potential protein binding sites, i.e. cysteine and selenocysteine, was investigated by means of density functional theory approaches. Capped cysteine and selenocysteine were employed to better model the corresponding residues environment within peptide structures. By assuming the neutral or deprotonated form of the side chains of these amino acids and by considering the possible assistance of an external proton donor such as an adjacent acidic residue or the acidic component of the surrounding buffer environment, we devised five possible routes leading to the binding o…
Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Organometallic Complexes Bearing Bis‐1,8‐naphthalimide Ligands
2018
Organometallic N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes with intercalating bis-naphthalimide ligands were prepared and evaluated biologically. Cytotoxic effects against tumor cells or bacteria were strongly ligand dependent with minor influence of the metal (Ag, Ru, Rh, Au) centers. Complex 8b with a rhodium(I) NHC moiety was studied in more detail for its DNA interacting properties in comparison to the metal free ligand. These studies showed a good DNA binding pattern with some preference for the telomeric quadruplex structure hTelo. Complex 8b was also shown to trigger additional coordinative binding to the DNA and therefore represents an useful tool compound with a mixed intercalative/coor…
Unique Reactivity of Fluorinated Molecules with Transition Metals
2014
Organofluorine and organometallic chemistry by themselves constitute two potent areas in organic synthesis. Thus, the combination of both offers many chemical possibilities and represents a powerful tool for the design and development of new synthetic methodologies leading to diverse molecular structures in an efficient manner. Given the importance of the selective introduction of fluorine atoms into organic molecules and the effectiveness of transition metals in C–C and C–heteroatom bond formation, this review represents an interesting read for this aim.
Electrochemical analysis of the first Polish coins using voltammetry of immobilized particles
2017
[EN] A series of 20 denarii from Boleslaus the Brave (992-1025) and Mieszko II Lambert (1025-1034), corresponding to the beginning of the Polish state were studied using the voltammetry of immobilized particles (VIMP) methodology. VIMP experiments, applied to nanosamples of the corrosion layers of the coins in contact with aqueous acetate buffer, provided well-defined responses mainly corresponding to the corrosion products of copper and lead. Such voltammetric responses, combined with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy experiments performed on the same set of coins, and complemented by focusing ion beam-field emission scanning electron microscope (FIB-FESEM) on silver coins from the 19t…
Water‐Soluble Heteronuclear [NaCu II 6 ] Metallomacrocyclic Sandwich Complexes: Synthesis, Structure, Properties and In Vitro Biological Studies
2014
The water-soluble heteronuclear metallomacrocyclic sandwich clusters [NaCu6(hpnbpda)3(OH)3(OH2)3](NO3)·4H2O (1), [NaCu6(hpnbpda)3(OH)3(OH2)3](ClO4) (2), and [NaCu6(hpnbpda)3(OH)3(OH2)3](PF6) (3) [H3hpnbpda = N,N′-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-2-hydroxy-1,3-propanediamine-N,N′-diacetic acid] have been synthesized in methanol at room temperature and fully characterized using several analytical techniques including single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The molecular architecture of complex 1 is built from the template assembly of three dinuclear [Cu2(hpnbpda)]+ fragments through their weak oxophillic interactions with a central sodium(I) cation. A close analysis of the single-crystal X-ray structure reveal…
