Inhibitoren der Korrosion 31 (1). Beitrag zur Inhibierung der Korrosion von Zink und Messing

1986

Pattern Formation During Dry Corrosion of Metals and Alloys

1987

About corrosion of metals and alloys, many exciting problems are not entirely solved. One of them concerns some morphological features such as, for example, stratified periodic structures that may appear, for example during the oxidation or sulfidation of metals and alloys. In this context, a high temperature corrosion kinetics is interpreted in terms of a bistable chemical system which can oscillate spontaneously if a feedback effect could exist. Some models analyse these patterning from a theoretical point of view. Stability analyses of the uniform standard steady state point out that it can be unstable by bifurcation and give rise to multilayered scales. Some non linearities, peculiar to…

Electroanalytical chemistry for the analysis of solids: Characterization and classification (IUPAC Technical Report)

2012

Solid state electroanalytical chemistry (SSEAC) deals with studies of the processes, materials, and methods specifically aimed to obtain analytical information (quantitative elemental composition, phase composition, structure information, and reactivity) on solid materials by means of electrochemical methods. The electrochemical characterization of solids is not only crucial for electrochemical applications of materials (e.g., in batteries, fuel cells, corrosion protection, electrochemical machining, etc.) but it lends itself also for providing analytical information on the structure and chemical and mineralogical composition of solid materials of all kinds such as metals and alloys, variou…

Electrochemical analysis of metallic heritage artefacts: voltammetry of microparticles (VMP)

2013

Abstract: This chapter discusses the application of the voltammetry of microparticles, a solid-state electrochemical technique, to the field of corrosion of archaeological metal. Identification of metals and alloys, identification, mapping and layer-by-layer analysis of corrosion products on metal surfaces using this technique are described. Applications include quantification of components of alloys and corrosion layers, and evaluation of metal conservation and the kinetics of long-term corrosion processes. Specific applications in archaeometry, conservation and restoration include authentication and dating.

Application of dynamic and combined magnetic fields in the 300mm silicon single-crystal growth

2002

Abstract The increase of diameter in the silicon single crystal growth from 200 to 300 mm for industrial application, and to 400 or 450 mm for research, respectively, has triggered off the development of numerous new technologies like crystal-growth-supporting systems, low-power hot zones, high strength of static magnetic fields and new quartzglas qualities. At Wacker Siltronic, new kinds of magnetic fields have been developed for 300 mm CZ growth. In this paper, the results of dynamic and combined (static and alternating) magnetic fields are discussed. Instead of buoyancy-driven convection, a magnetic-field-controlled melt flow has been obtained in large melt volumes. The crucible wall tem…

Contribution to the study of physico-chemical properties of surfaces modified by last treatment : application to the enhancement of localized corrosi…

2011

Metallic materials are more and more used in severe conditions with particularly strong request for improving their behavior in aggressive environment and especially over long periods. The objective of this PhD work is to estimate the potentiality of a laser surface melting treatment on the improvement of the stainless steel 304L corrosion resistance, surface treatments by laser can be revisited on the basis of a recent change in the laser technology. In the frame of this work, a nano-pulsed laser fiber was chosen : it allows the treated surface to be melted for few microns in depth, followed by an ultra-fast solidification occuring with cooling rates up to 1011 K/s. The combination of thes…

The influence of hydrogen on the electrochemical properties of selected types of stainless steel=Wpływ wodoru na właściwości elektrochemiczne wybrany…

2013

Abstract The paper presents the results of the influence of electrolytic hydrogenation on the change of electrochemical properties of selected stainless steels and their susceptibility to the formation of galvanic hydrogen. It has been shown that the electrolytic hydrogenation of steel X5CrNi18-10 and X6Cr17 in the state of delivery, not only changes their corrosion resistance, but also contributes to the formation of galvanic hydrogen cells.

Preparation and characterization of brass-based coatings

2018

Cold Spray (CS) has been widely investigated owing to its high deposition efficiency and retention of the properties of starting materials. Thus, this process has shown obvious advantages over the fabrication of different copper-based deposits and its alloys over other techniques, such as electroplating, Laser Cladding or thermal spraying. As one of the main copper alloys, brass is implanted in the fields of architecture or industry. Nevertheless, nowadays it is clear that there is very little work on brass coatings, and they were mainly made by electroplating and any other deposition methods, which has severely limits their uses in many applications. This study was applied to develop the br…
