2018

[EN] This piece of work introduces the PluriTAV (Audiovisual Translation as a Tool for the Development of Multilingual Competences in the Classroom) research project. This project is staked on one of the most recent approaches of foreign language teaching, the multilingual approach, in which not only the language being studied (or taught) but also the linguistic repertoire of the classroom are taken into account. The project, focused on the teaching and perfecting of language, is based on the said approach and draws on a field related to foreign language teaching, audiovisual translation, so that through it, one can learn a foreign language, perfect mother tongue abilities and develop multi…

Organizing Shared Digital Reading in Groups: Optimizing the Affordances of Text and Medium

2019

Children develop their language when they explore and talk about literary texts. In this study, we explore the design of shared digital reading as a basis for critical reflection on the reading situation in an institutional context with its given opportunities and limitations. We examine six videotaped readings of one specific picture book app, with a focus on the strategies used by teachers in early childhood education and care institutions to control children’s access to the medium and the types of verbal engagement (about the story and about the medium) that are generated by these different strategies. We use qualitative and quantitative analysis of video data. A qualitative categorizat…

Gene Therapy of Human Melanoma — from Animal Experiments to the Clinical Trial

1997

Low immunogenecity of tumour cells is one of the reason that specific immune response is insufficient to destroy malignant cells. In an attempt to augment weakly immunogenic B78H1 mouse melanoma cell line, these cells were transfected with genomic DNA from a line of human melanoma cells expressing a 96kD melanoma associated antigen (MAA) that is intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM 1). The transfected cells expressed fivefold higher quantities of the melanoma associated antigen from which the DNA was obtained. Human ICAM 1 expressed by mouse melanoma cells appeared to be highly immunogenic leading to the rejection of the modified mouse melanoma cells. The transfected cells appeared to be…

The echinoderm innate humoral immune response

2015

Abstract: Multicellular organisms have an immune system, which is essential for the survival of living beings. Interest in the immune system has been expanded since common characteristics of innate immunity between Drosophila melanogaster (Meigen, 1830) and mammals were discovered in the 1980. Since then, immunology has mainly focused on the adaptive immune system that seems to be restricted to vertebrates. Unlike the innate immunity, the adaptive one is acquired after exposure to a specific antigen (Ag) and includes: antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages, proliferation of B and T lymphocytes, Ag-specific antibody/cytokine production and immunological memory. Innate immunity is inste…

2010

European society, with its steadily increased welfare levels, is not only concerned about food (safety, prices), but also on other aspects such as biodiversity loss, landscape degradation, pollution of water, soil and atmosphere. To a large extent these concerns can be translated into a wider concept named sustainable development defined as a normative concept by Morgan and Sonnino (2008). Sustainability in the food chain means approaching a new emerging vision of a sustainable agro-food system introducing an institutional dimension to take into account. Among different attempts to conjugate such concepts, there is one that is taking place in many Regions of Italy. In the last years spontan…

Nominal Agreement in L2 Speakers of Italian: Suggestions for a Teaching Plan

2021

International audience; This paper addresses the topic of adult acquisition of nominal agreement in Italian, a crucial issue in teaching Italian as Second/Foreign Language. Building on a corpus containing spontaneous and semi-spontaneous production data from two advanced L2-speakers of Italian, I show that nominal agreement can be problematic even in the last stages of the acquisition process. The discussion of the instances of missing agreement in the corpus suggests that these are not due to a missing knowledge of the agreement rules in Italian, but instead on processing and production. In particular, some contexts prove to be more difficult than others: gender agreement (i.e., agreement …
