n-heptane cracking has been carried out for very short time periods on an established reaction mechanism which includes the following group of stream reactions on different zeolites: Initiation reactions (protolytic cracking), charge isomerization, chain isomerization, hydride transfer, β-scission–alkylation, desorption–adsorption, and hydrogen transfer–cyclization. It has been observed that a given experimental distribution of products can be explained by more than just one reaction scheme. This does not allow one to clearly distinguish the fraction of reactant which disappears via monomolecular initiation reactions with respect to bimolecular hydride transfer reactions.

Private scientific organizations exert a great deal of influence in the regulation of some technological risks. The high level of expertise of their members is arguably a good reason for them to participate in making and monitoring risk regulations, in order to adjust these to scientific progress. Adriano Olivetti (1901-1960) was the promoter of an unprecedented business project that not only concerned the economic sphere, but also included architecture, social development, politics, the value of the person and of the culture. This paper examines the educational role played by culture in the Olivetti’s project as a way of human growth. To clarify the identity of the Olivetti’s culture, various sources were questioned: the personal library, the editorial choices, his coworkers and the good educational practices carried out in the Olivetti factory. Differences between tight and loose cultures: a 33-nation study.

With data from 33 nations, we illustrate the differences between cultures that are tight (have many strong norms and a low tolerance of deviant behavior) versus loose (have weak social norms and a high tolerance of deviant behavior). This study examines in detail the psychological variables underlying ideological political orientation, and structure and contents of this orientation, in Sweden and Latvia. Individual political orientation is conceptualized on two dimensions: acceptance vs. rejection of social change and acceptance vs. rejection of inequality. Background/Aims: Nutcracker esophagus and non-specific motility disorders are the main causes of non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP), with gastroesophageal reflux in 60% of cases. Achalasia and diffuse esophageal spasm are the most frequent anomalies described in patients with dysphagia. The goal of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of esophageal body and lower esophageal sphincter motor abnormalities in patients with dysphagia, NCCP, or both. Transposition of the left renal vein for treatment of the nutcracker phenomenon: long-term follow-up

Abstract Objectives To assess the therapeutic value of left renal vein transposition for treatment of the nutcracker phenomenon in long-term follow-up. Methods Eight patients (4 women and 4 men) between 23 and 58 years old (mean 39.1) underwent transposition of the left renal vein for treatment of the nutcracker phenomenon associated with recurrent gross hematuria and flank pain. The postoperative follow-up was 41 to 136 months (mean 66.4). Results No perioperative complications were encountered.
