A large amount of data is currently available on the adaptive mechanisms of polar bony fish hemoglobins, but structural information on those of cartilaginous species is scarce. This study presents the first characterisation of the hemoglobin system of one of the longest-living vertebrate species (392 +/- 120 years), the Arctic shark Somniosus microcephalus. Three major hemoglobins are found in its red blood cells and are made of two copies of the same a globin combined with two copies of three very similar beta subunits. The three hemoglobins show very similar oxygenation and carbonylation properties, which are unaffected by urea, a very important compound in marine elasmobranch physiology.…

BACKGROUND: Although the association between multimorbidity and polypharmacy has been clearly documented, no study has analyzed whether or not specific combinations of diseases influence the prescription of polypharmacy in older persons. We assessed which clusters of diseases are associated with polypharmacy in acute-care elderly in-patients. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was held in 38 Italian internal medicine and geriatric wards participating in the Registro Politerapie SIMI (REPOSI) study during 2008. Atom-field dressed states in slow-light waveguide QED

We discuss the properties of atom-photon bound states in waveguide QED systems consisting of single or multiple atoms coupled strongly to a finite-bandwidth photonic channel. Such bound states are formed by an atom and a localized photonic excitation and represent the continuum analog of the familiar dressed states in single-mode cavity QED. Here we present a detailed analysis of the linear and nonlinear spectral features associated with single- and multi-photon dressed states and show how the formation of bound states affects the waveguide-mediated dipole-dipole interactions between separated atoms. Performance of PSI, CURB-65, and SCAP scores in predicting the outcome of patients with community-acquired and healthcare-associated pneumonia

The objective was to compare three score systems, pneumonia severity index (PSI), the Confusion-Urea-Respiratory Rate-Blood pressure-65 (CURB-65), and severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP), for prediction of the outcomes in a cohort of patients with community-acquired (CAP) and healthcare-associated pneumonia (HCAP). Large multi-center, prospective, observational study was conducted in 55 hospitals. Lai ātri un ērti izveidotu tīmekļa vietni, ar vai bez noteiktām biznesa prasībām, nepieciešams ņemt vērā dažādi faktori kā tiks veidota tīmekļa vietne. Darba mērķis ir salīdzināt programmu ietvarus tīmekļa vietņu ģenerēšanai, balstoties uz iepriekš izveidotas datu bāzes. Izstrādātais papildinājums resursu vadības sistēmas lietotājam nodrošina iespēju saglabāt informāciju par nerezidentu, veikt kopsavilkumu par nerezidenta gūtajiem ienākumiem un samaksātajiem nodokļiem taksācijas periodā. Nodrošināt pārvaldību EDS dokumentam un iegūt PDF un XLS dokumentus, kā arī XML dokumentu, kuru var nodot VID EDS sistēmai. Risinājums tika izstrādāts, izmantojot PL/SQL Developer, Microsoft Visual Studio rīkus, .Net, .NET MVC.
Propiedades Psicométricas de la Escala de Creencia en un Mundo Justo General y Personal en el Contexto Argentino

El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue analizar las propiedades psicométricas de las Escalas de Creencia en un Mundo Justo General y Personal. Para tal fin, se examinó la estructura interna de ambas, testeando si evalúan un mismo constructo global o constituyen dos dimensiones diferenciadas, la consistencia interna de cada una y sus relaciones con las orientaciones religiosas. Participaron del estudio 328 estudiantes universitarios de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires con edades entre 18 y 40 años (M = 24,1; DT = 3,88). El objetivo de esta investigación es presentar una adaptaciòn y validación en población española de la Escala de expectativa de los hijos adolescentes sobre la reacción de sus padres frente al comportamiento prosocial y antisocial,desarrollado por Wyatt y Carlo (2002). La muestra estuvo compuesta por 631 adolescentes españoles de entre 15 y 18 años de edad,de ambos sexos, de clase media.
