It provides a framework methodology for a multidisciplinary ecosystem as a participatory method developed in the context of Mobility Urban Values (MUV), an EU Horizon 2020 project (2017–2020), that addresses the issue of behavioral change towards (more) sustainable mobility lifestyle in EU cities. Physicochemical and nutritional characteristics of blueberry juice after high pressure processing

Abstract This study was carried out to investigate the impact of high pressure processing (HPP) at different pressure (200, 400 and 600 MPa) and treatment times (5, 9 and 15 min) on ascorbic acid, total phenolics, anthocyanin stability and total antioxidant capacity, were also studied at different physicochemical parameters such as pH, °Brix and color. HPP treatments resulted in more than 92% vitamin C retention at all treatment intensities. On the other hand, total phenolic content in the juice was increased, mainly after HPP at 200 MPa for all treatment times. The effects of mental fatigue on sport-related performance

International audience; Mental fatigue is known to increase subjective feelings of fatigue and to decrease cognitive performance, but its impact on physical performance remains poorly understood. The aim of this chapter was to review the results of 29 studies published between 2009 and April 2018 and focusing on the impact of mental fatigue on sport-related performance. Taken all studies together, it appears that mental fatigue impairs endurance performance, motor skills performance and decision-making performance. A New Aromatic Compound from the Stem Bark of Terminalia catappa

A new aromatic compound 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl-1- O-(4-sulfo)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), in addition to two triterpenoid saponins (chebuloside II, arjunoglucoside II), two triterpenes (arjunolic acid and 3-betulinic acid) and sitosterol-3- O-β-D-glucopyranoside have been isolated from the barks of Terminalia catappa. Their structures have been established on the basis of spectroscopic techniques (1D/2D NMR) and MS. Their cytotoxicity and anti-inflammatory activity, together with the antioxidant capacity of compound 1 were also evaluated.

Dipolar order and disorder phenomena in pure CO and dilute (CO)1−x(Ar)x mixtures physisorbed on graphite

Abstract A detailed heat capacity study has been performed to characterize the properties of pure CO and (CO) 1− x (Ar) x mixture films physisorbed on the basal planes of graphite. The phase diagram of CO monolayers will be presented. At T c =5.18 K a phase transition to a novel low temperature phase is found with head-tail (dipolar) order of the molecules in an orientationally ordered herringbone structure. The phase transition is shown to belong to the 2D Ising universality class with anisotropic interactions between the molecules. Monte Carlo investigation of head-tail ordering of CO monolayers on graphite

Abstract Heat capacity measurements recently showed that CO physisorbed on graphite undergoes a head-tail ordering transition at roughly 5 K. The present paper is a detailed Monte Carlo study of this phase transition and the ordered state. The simulations are based on an ab initio pair potential and rely crucially on a thorough finite-size scaling study of various quantities. In agreement with experiments we find that the transition belongs to the universality class of the Ising model in two dimensions. Observation of random-field behavior in (CO)1−x(N2)xmixtures physisorbed on graphite

Heat-capacity studies have been carried out on submonolayers of (CO${)}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$(${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$${)}_{\mathit{x}}$ mixtures physisorbed on graphite. We find that pure CO undergoes an end-to-end ordering transition at ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{c}}$=5.18 K, which is shown to belong to the two-dimensional Ising universality class. In diluting CO with ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ the heat-capacity peaks become progressively rounded until the phase transition is completely suppressed at a ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ concentration of only x=0.07. Efficient parallel tempering for first-order phase transitions

We present a Monte Carlo algorithm that facilitates efficient parallel tempering simulations of the density of states g(E) . We show that the algorithm eliminates the supercritical slowing down in the case of the Q=20 and Q=256 Potts models in two dimensions, typical examples for systems with extreme first-order phase transitions. As recently predicted, and shown here, the microcanonical heat capacity along the calorimetric curve has negative values for finite systems.

Phase transition of tetragonal copper sulfide Cu2S at low temperatures

The low-temperature behavior of tetragonal copper sulfide, ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}\mathrm{S}$, was investigated by powder and single-crystal x-ray diffraction, calorimetry, electrical resistance measurements, and ambient temperature optical absorption spectroscopy. The experiments were complemented by density-functional-theory-based calculations. High-quality, polycrystalline samples and single crystals of tetragonal copper sulfide were synthesized at 5 GPa and 700 K in a large volume multianvil press.
