Linking the residential satisfaction to landscape metrics: a tool for urban planning?

International audience; This paper examines the links between residential satisfaction of periurban households and landscape structure of their spatial neighbourhood. Satisfaction of people was measured using a survey while landscape composition was quantified from remotely sensed data. Results are simulated in order to identify areas of satisfaction.

Abstract. This paper describes a system, currently being designed, for both perceptual analysis and aesthetic evaluation of a landscape. The choice of this topic is motivated by the fact that systems related to landscape visibility (e.g. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for visual impact assessment) are not fully satisfactory when it comes to assessing the aesthetic appearance. They mainly analyse geometric aspects, such as the width of visual basins or the interference of visual trajectories, which can be expressed by objective and comparable parameters. Zastosowanie metodyki audytu krajobrazowego do identyfikacji krajobrazów w skali lokalnej na przykładzie gminy Szczyrk

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki identyfikacji i oceny krajobrazów gminy Szczyrk. W badaniach zastosowano metodę audytu krajobrazowego i trzy kryteria delimitacji: ukształtowanie terenu, kompozycję przestrzenną oraz pokrycie terenu. Badania prowadzono na obszarze górskim, gdzie dotychczas metoda nie była testowana. Stwierdzono występowanie 58 jednostek krajobrazowych należących do 13 typów. Powierzchniowo dominują krajobrazy leśne. Układ jednostek nawiązuje do pięter klimatyczno-roślinnych. Wraz ze zwiększaniem skali badań maleją powierzchnie jednostek, nie maleje znacząco ich liczba. W regionalizacji fizyczno-geograficznej Polski obszar Garbu Opolskiego zaliczony został do makrore-gionu Nizina Śląska i mezoregionu Pradolina Wrocławska. Kwalifikacja ta nie jest zgodna z kryteria-mi wyróżniania mezoregionów i makroregionów. Garb Opolski pod względem budowy geologicznej może być identyfikowany jako część nieodległej Wyżyny Śląskiej, choć położony jest na znacząco mniejszej wysokości niż granica hipsometryczna między nizinami a wyżynami. Przykład Garbu Opolskiego pokazuje problem określenia przynależności wyspowych jednostek fizyczno-geograficznych na pograniczu wyżyn i nizin Polski.
