Luminescent supramolecular heterometallic macrocycles and their encapsulation on cholate gels

The metal complex formed by coordination of Zn(II) to 1,7-bis(4-methylpyridine)-4-(2- naphthylmethyl)-1,4,7-triazaheptane (ZnL2+) was reacted in aqueous solution with [Pd(NO3)2(en)] and [Pt(NO3)2(en)] salts to form the self-assembled heterometallic macrocycles [Zn2L2Pd2(en)2]8+ and [Zn2L2Pt2(en)2]8+, respectively. Pd(II) and Pt(II)- coordination modulates the original emission of ZnL2+ arising from the presence of the naphthalene chromophore and the formation of the macrocycles can be monitored due to the PET process occurring with coordination of Pd(II) and Pt(II) to the pyridine units of ZnL2+. The application of synthetic polymers for drug delivery often requires tremendous efforts to ensure biocompatibility and -degradation. To use the body's own substances can help to overcome these problems. Herein, we present the first synthesis of nanocontainers entirely composed of albumin proteins. These protein nanocontainers (PNCs) were loaded with hydrophilic compounds and release of the payload is triggered through natural lysis in vitro in human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs). SUMMARYGenotype G12 strains are now considered to be the sixth most prevalent human rotaviruses worldwide. In two Sicilian cities, Palermo and Messina, surveillance of rotavirus circulation performed since 1985 and 2009, respectively, did not detect G12 strains until 2012. From 2012 to 2014 rotavirus infection was detected in 29·7% of 1647 stool samples collected from children admitted for acute gastroenteritis to three Sicilian hospitals in Palermo, Messina and Ragusa. Purpose To describe the prevalence of cataract in older people in 2 areas of north and south India. Design Population-based, cross-sectional study. Participants Randomly sampled villages were enumerated to identify people aged ≥60 years. Of 7518 enumerated people, 78% participated in a hospital-based ophthalmic examination. Methods The examination included visual acuity measurement, dilatation, and anterior and posterior segment examination. Recent studies demonstrated that heat-sensitive nociceptive primary sensory neurons respond to the vanilloid receptor (VR) agonist capsaicin, and the first cloned VR is a heat-sensitive ion channel. Therefore we studied to what extent heat-evoked currents in nociceptive dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons can be attributed to the activation of native vanilloid receptors. Cannabinoids (CB) can act as retrograde synaptic mediators of depolarization-induced suppression of inhibition or excitation in hippocampus. This mechanism may underlie the impairment of some cognitive processes produced by these compounds, including short-term memory formation in the hippocampus.
