Energetic demands and nutritional strategies of elite cross-country skiers during Tour de Ski : A narrative review

The Tour de Ski (TDS: 6–9 sprint and distance races across 9–11 days) represents the most intense competition series of the cross-country (XC) ski season and is characterized by accumulated stress from consecutive days of high-intensity (~ 85%–160% VO2max) racing, travel, cold temperatures and low to moderate altitude (500–1500 m above sea level). Degradation of Lincomycin in aqueous medium: coupling of solar photocatalysis and membrane separation

Abstract The photocatalytic oxidation of a common antibiotic, the lincomycin was carried out in aqueous suspensions of polycrystalline TiO 2 Degussa P25 irradiated by sunlight. In order to improve the performance of the lincomycin degradation a hybrid system consisting of a solar photoreactor with the photocatalyst in suspension coupled with a membrane module, used to confine both photocatalyst and pollutants in the reaction environment, was tested. Metabotropic glutamate receptors activate phospholipase D in astrocytes through a protein kinase C-dependent and Rho-independent pathway.

Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) are G protein-coupled receptors that mediate phospholipase D (PLD) activation in brain, but the mechanism underlying this response remains unclear. Here we used primary cultures of astrocytes as a cell model to explore the mechanism that links mGluRs to PLD. Glutamate activated both phospholipase C (PLC) and PLD with equal potency and this effect was mimicked by L-cysteinesulfinic acid, a putative neurotransmitter previously shown to activate mGluRs coupled to PLD, but not PLC, in adult brain. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot vasarzaļo rododendru spraudeņu pavairošanas potenciālu atkarībā no mātes augu priekšapstrādes (etiolācija, steidzināšana) un spraudeņu apstrādes ar auksīnu – indol-3-sviestskābi (ISS). Mātes augu etiolācija kopā ar ISS veicināja straujāku rizoģenēzi, bet neietekmēja apsakņoto spraudeņu skaitu. Etiolācija uzlaboja pārziemošanu grūtāk apsakņojamiem spraudeņiem. Mātes augu steidzināšana kopā ar ISS uzlaboja spraudeņu rizoģenēzi grūtāk apsakņojamiem genotipiem, veicināja jauno dzinumu attīstību, uzlabojot spraudeņu pārziemošanu.
