A polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-based catalyst for the efficient synthesis of cyclic carbonates
2015
Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane functionalized with imidazolium chloride peripheries (POSS-Imi) was successfully synthesized through a novel synthesis protocol. The solid was extensively characterized via1H NMR, 13C NMR and IR spectroscopy as well as combustion chemical analysis, mass spectrometry and transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, an in-depth investigation through 29Si NMR was performed. POSS-Imi was used for the first time as a catalyst for the conversion of CO2 and epoxides into cyclic carbonates with excellent results in terms of both yield and selectivity. The catalyst displayed improved catalytic performance with respect to unsupported 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chl…

2001
Abstract A new potential toxaphene congener 3- endo ,5- endo -dichloro-7,7-bis-chloromethyl-4-dichloromethyl-tricyclo[2.2.1.0 2,6 ]heptane 2 has been isolated from reaction mixture obtained by the chlorination of 2- exo ,10,10-trichlorobornane 1 . The X-ray structural analysis of 2 revealed an unusual tricyclic structure, where the two chlorine atoms occupying endo -positions are in close spatial proximity with each other and near to the neighbouring CHCl 2 group. Further, it revealed that the symmetry of the molecule is distorted. The 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra of 2 have been assigned by means of 1 H, 1 H d ouble- q uantum f iltered co rrelation s pectroscop y (DQF COSY), PFG 1 H, 13 C HMQC …

Abstract The synthesis and structural characterization of Ni II , Cu II and Zn II complexes of two chelating 1,2,4-oxadiazole ligands, namely 3,5-bis(2′-pyridyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (bipyOXA) and 3-(2′-pyridyl)5-(phenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (pyOXA), is here reported. The formed hexacoordinated metal complexes are [M(bipyOXA) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 and [M(pyOXA) 2 (ClO 4 ) 2 ], respectively (M = Ni, Cu, Zn). X-ray crystallography, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy and C, N, H elemental analysis data concord in attributing them an octahedral coordination geometry. The two coordinated pyOXA ligands assume a trans coplanar disposition, while the two bipyOXA ligands are not. The latter result is a possib…
Protonation and methylation reactions of 2-pyridyl-palladium(II) and -platinum(II) complexes
1983
Abstract The reactions of strong acids HX and HClO4 with the 2-pyridyl complexes [PdX(μ-C5H4N-C2,N)(PPh3)]2 (X = Cl, Br), trans-[PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(PEt3)2] and [PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(dppe)] yield the N-protonated derivatives cis-[PdX2-(C5H5N-C2)(PPh3)], trans-[PdCl(C5H5N-C2)(PEt3)2]ClO4 and [PdCl-(C5H5N-C2)(dppe)]ClO4, respectively. The terminal 2-pyridyl group of trans-[PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(PEt3)2] and [PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(dppe)] also reacts with Me2SO4/NaClO4 to give trans-[PdClC5H4(l-Me)N-C2(PEt3)2]ClO4 and [PdClC5H4(l-Me)N-C2(dppe)]ClO4. Analogous N-protonation or N-methylation reactions occur with trans-[PtBr(C5H4N-C2)(L)2] (L = PEt3, PPh3). The complexes trans-[MX(C5H5N-C2)(PMe2Ph)2]ClO4 (M = Pd, X = Cl an…
The novel structure of the core oligosaccharide backbone of the lipopolysaccharide from the Plesiomonas shigelloides strain CNCTC 8089 (serotype O13)
2013
The new structure of the core oligosaccharide of Plesiomonas shigelloides CNCTC 80/89 (serotype O13) lipopolysaccharide has been investigated by chemical methods, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy and matrix-assisted laser-desorption/ionization time of flight (MALDI-TOF). It was concluded that the core oligosaccharide of P. shigelloides CNCTC 80/89 is a nonasaccharide with the following structure: The position of glycine was determined by MALDI-TOF MS/MS analyses.
Structure of a polysaccharide from the lipopolysaccharide of Vibrio vulnificus CECT4602 containing 2-acetamido-2,3,6-trideoxy-3-[(S)- and (R)-3-hydro…
2008
A polysaccharide was isolated by GPC after mild acid treatment of the lipopolysaccharide of Vibrio vulnificus CECT4602 and found to contain L-Rha, D-GlcpNAc and 2-acetamido-2,3,6-trideoxy-3-(3-hydroxybutanoylamino)-L-mannose (L-RhaNAc3NHb). GLC analysis of the trifluoroacetylated (S)-2-octyl esters derived by full acid hydrolysis of the polysaccharide showed that approximately 80% of the 3-hydroxybutanoic acid has the S configuration and approximately 20% the R configuration. The following structure of the polysaccharide was established by (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopies, including 2D ROESY and (1)H/(13)C HMBC experiments: [carbohydrate sequence see in text].
3α,3′α-Bis(n-acetoxyphenylcarboxy)-5β-cholan-24-oic acid ethane-1,2-diol diesters (n = 2-4):13C NMR chemical shifts, variable-temperature and NOE1H N…
2000
Three novel bile acid-based molecular dimers, 3α,3′α-bis(n-acetoxyphenylcarboxy)-5β-cholan-24-oic acid ethane-1,2-diol diesters (n = 2–4), 1–3, were synthesized from lithocholic acid (3α-hydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid) ethane-1,2-diol diester and isomeric n-acetoxybenzoyl chlorides (n = 2–4). Their cleft type conformational preferences were suggested theoretically by PM3 molecular orbital calculations. Molecular weights determined by the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight technique and 13C NMR chemical shifts of the 1–3 are also presented. Macrocycles prepared from lithocholic acid, piperazine and isomeric pyridine dicarboxylic acids and their selective affinities towards sodium and pot…
2001
Abstract Two novel macrocycles prepared from lithocholic acid, piperazine and pyridine dicarboxylic acids (2,6- and 3,5-isomers), have been characterized by 13C NMR and ESI–MS techniques. In case of the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate derivative, the molecular formula of the cycle was C59H87O6N3 (I), while the pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate derivative (II) was a trimeric structure by molecular mass when compared with I. Furthermore, cycle I showed a special affinity towards potassium cation, while II possessed significant proton and sodium cation recognition properties.

2003
1H, 13C and 15N NMR and electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometric characterizations of five lithocholate esters of piperazine diamides are described. Two of them are cholaphane-type cyclic structures esterified with 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4 ′ - and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and the other three esters are open structures comprising two or four lithocholyl residues. The conformational preferences of the dimeric congeners were examined by using molecular modelling and variable-temperature 1H NMR techniques. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
