Understanding the health care pattern of homeless children through their residential journey
2021
Processi resilienti e controversie culturali nel care leaving
2022
The work moves in the field of applied anthropology and addresses the issue of the resilience of care leavers: young people who, after a long stay within residential structures, are preparing to enter society at the age of eighteen. Considering that resilient processes are not without pitfalls and threats, some conceptual axioms are proposed that are useful for considering the multi-dimensionality and cultural relativity that revolve around the resilient process within residential communities. All this will take place within a socio-cultural research and intervention perspective based on participatory and bottom-up approaches aimed at encouraging negotiation practices and settings between m…
Tensions and resilience: the experiences of adult foster-care workers in Finland
2018
This article examines adult foster care for older people in Finland. This is a semi-formal service in which older people are cared for by foster carers who are remunerated for their work by the local municipality. In the article, the tensions and resources of resilience of foster-care work are analysed. The data consist of 12 thematic interviews with foster carers. The results suggest that foster-care work is emotionally draining and has adverse effects on social relationships. However, foster carers see caring as purposeful, they see themselves as professionals and they have enough social resources.
COPE-indeksillä mitatun omaishoitajan kuormittumisen tilan yhteys omaishoidettavan käyttämien sijaishoitopalveluiden määrään ja käytön useuteen
2013
Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää COPE-indeksiä (Carers of Older People in Europe, COPE index) apuna käyttäen, minkälainen on omaishoitajien kuormittumisen tila Jämsä-Kuhmoinen SoTe-yhteistoiminta-alueella. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa selvitetään, onko omaishoitajien kuormittumisen tila yhteydessä omaishoidettavan käyttämien sijaishoitopalv…

The roles of job and worker restructuring in aggregate wage growth dynamics
2019
We propose an approach for measuring and analyzing the dynamics of the standard aggregate wage growth of macro statistics with micro data. Our method decomposes the aggregate wage growth into the wage growth of job stayers and into various terms related to job and worker restructuring. This method produces explicit expressions with clear interpretations for the various restructuring components. Using comprehensive longitudinal employer–employee data, we study how job and worker restructuring influence the aggregate wage growth and its cyclicality. The results highlight the importance of drawing a sharp distinction between job and worker restructuring in the analysis of aggregate wage growth…

Good clinical response, remission, and predictors of remission in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with tumor necrosis factor-α blockers: The GI…
2007
OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence of good clinical response and remission in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with longstanding disease treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) drugs at outpatient clinics. METHODS: Retrospective national study of 14 academic tertiary referral rheumatology medical centers. RA patients with a Disease Activity Score (DAS28) > 3.2 were defined as having active disease and could start TNF-alpha blockers. All patients received one TNF-alpha blocker plus methotrexate (10-20 mg/wk). At the third month the patients were categorized as responders or nonresponders, based on improvement of at least 0.25 of the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ).…
Treatment approaches to patients with multiple sclerosis and coexisting autoimmune disorders.
2021
The past decades have yielded major therapeutic advances in many autoimmune conditions – such as multiple sclerosis (MS) – and thus ushered in a new era of more targeted and increasingly potent immunotherapies. Yet this growing arsenal of therapeutic immune interventions has also rendered therapy much more challenging for the attending physician, especially when treating patients with more than one autoimmune condition. Importantly, some therapeutic strategies are either approved for several autoimmune disorders or may be repurposed for other conditions, therefore opening new curative possibilities in related fields. In this article, we especially focus on frequent and therapeutically rele…
