Primary double teeth. A retrospective clinical study of their morphological characteristics and associated anomalies

Aim. To investigate the relationship between morphology and position of double teeth, and the occurrence of other dental anomalies in the same subjects and in their siblings. Sample of children and methods. Fifty-three double teeth in a group of 50 Spanish children were included in the study. All of these children were examined clinically and had radiographs and photographs taken at the time of examination. Twenty-two of the children had a total of 30 siblings who were also examined for the presence of anomalies. Results. Of the 50 subjects, 47 had one and three subjects had two double teeth. Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa: oral findings and problems.

Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is one of the three major types of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), an inherited cutaneous disease with blister formation following minor trauma. A subtype of DEB is recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, Hallopeau-Siemens type (RDEB-HS), where marked scarring leads to deformities of extremities. In RDEB-HS the mucous membranes may also be involved and form adhesions with ankyloglossia and microstomia. Oral hygiene is difficult. Caries risk profile of 12 year old school children in an Indian city using Cariogram

Study design: Hundred children were interviewed to record any illness, oral hygiene practices and fluoride exposure after obtaining a three day diet diary. A controlled study comparing salivary osmolality, caries experience and caries risk in patients with cerebral palsy

Background Cerebral palsy (CP) is a permanent neurological disorder accompanied by secondary musculoskeletal masticatory disorder, with repercussion on chewing and deglutition functions. In these conditions, the liquids ingestion is compromised resulting in salivary osmolality alteration. The preventive, and partly the remineralizing, effect of xylitol was shown in Finland in the Turku Sugar Studies in 1971-73. Since then, several clinical trials in many countries have confirmed these results. In Finland, oral health personnel have recommended daily use of xylitol chewing gum in their dental health education.
