Plexin-B1 activates NF-κB and IL-8 to promote a pro-angiogenic response in endothelial cells.

2011

Background The semaphorins and their receptors, the plexins, are proteins related to c-Met and the scatter factors that have been implicated in an expanding signal transduction network involving co-receptors, RhoA and Ras activation and deactivation, and phosphorylation events. Our previous work has demonstrated that Semaphorin 4D (Sema4D) acts through its receptor, Plexin-B1, on endothelial cells to promote angiogenesis in a RhoA and Akt-dependent manner. Since NF-κB has been linked to promotion of angiogenesis and can be activated by Akt in some contexts, we wanted to examine NF-κB in Sema4D treated cells to determine if there was biological significance for the pro-angiogenic phenotype o…

<title>Multiresolution description of range images through 2D quincunx wavelet analysis</title>

1999

In this paper, we present a method for performing a multi- scale analysis on range images by using the wavelet transform, that is capable of revealing multi-resolution information. An accurate non-contact optical system based upon laser triangulation is used to determine the depth information of the object being scanned. The resulting range image is treated as a gray-level image by using a multi- resolution approach based on the generalization of the cascade algorithm using the quincunx wavelet transform. The quincunx wavelet assures very fine analysis. This method allows reconstruction of non-subsampled images that correspond to decompositions previously done at chosen scales. Multi-resolu…

Unveiling the high reactivity of benzyne in the formal [3+2] cycloaddition reactions towards thioamides through the Molecular Electron Density Theory

2020

Abstract The domino reaction of benzyne with thioamide has been studied within the Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) at the MPWB1K/6-311G(d) level. This domino reaction takes place through i) a formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction affording an ammonium ylide, and ii) an extrusion of ethylene from this species yielding a dihydrothiazole. Topological analysis of the electron density of benzyne shows its pseudodiradical structure, that is, without any energy cost, changes to a carbenoid one, allowing its participation as electrophile in polar reactions. As a consequence, the formal 32CA reaction does not have an activation enthalpy. Analysis of the changes of electron density al…

Asymmetric Synthesis of Functionalized Tricyclic Chromanes via an Organocatalytic Triple Domino Reaction

2017

A highly stereoselective triple domino reaction for the synthesis of functionalized tricyclic chromane scaffolds has been developed. A secondary amine-catalyzed domino Michael/Michael/aldol condensation reaction between aliphatic aldehydes, nitro-chromenes, and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes leads to the formation of synthetically important tricyclic chromanes bearing four contiguous stereogenic centers including a tetrasubstituted carbon in good yields (20–66%) and excellent stereoselectivities (>20:1 dr and >99% ee).

Asymmetric Tandem Reactions: New Strategies and Applications

2013

Abstract The application of allylic sulphoxides and, particularly, the chiral amine reagent tert-butanesulphinamide has been extended to three different tandem processes. The condensation of (R)-(+)-allyl p-tolyl sulphoxide, fluorinated nitriles and alkyl propiolates led to a new family of enantiomerically pure fluorine-containing 1,4- dihydropyridines. A diastereoselective nucleophilic addition of fluorinated nucleophiles onto (R)-(tert-butanesulphinyl) imines, followed by an intramolecular aza-Michael reaction gave rise to either fluorinated isoindolines or 3-substituted indanones in a stereoselective manner.

Dynamic optimization of a continuous Lactide ring-opening polymerization process

2019

An increasing attention has been paid to the production of the polylactic acid (PLA) in recent years, owing to its properties as a biodegradable thermoplastic besides the fact that it is derived from renewable resources. PLA is industrially produced by ring opening polymerization of lactide. This reaction is sensitive to deviations in the operating conditions that highly affect the reaction rate and the polymer properties. Therefore, a process monitoring and control policy is crucial in order to restore the nominal conditions in case of drift. In this paper, a continuous PLA process is considered with three cascade reactors, two tubular and one loop reactor, that is described by partial dif…

Fluorogenic Enzyme-Triggered Domino Reactions Producing Quinoxalin-2(1H)-one-based Heterocycles

2020

International audience; A simple and effective biocompatible domino reaction triggered by a model protease and leading to formation of strongly fluorescent quinoxalin-2(1H)-one N-heterocycles is described. Some positive attributes including versatility and ability to provide outstanding fluorescence "OFF-ON" responses were revealed by this work. They open the way for practical applications of this novel type of "covalent-assembly" based fluorescent probes in the fields of sensing and bioimaging. Among the myriad of synthetic transformations and catalysts currently available for concise and efficient synthesis of organic molecules, bioinspired approaches based on the use of enzymes often int…

ChemInform Abstract: Multifaceted Palladium Catalysts Towards the Tandem Diboration-Arylation Reactions of Alkenes.

2009

Novel Pd(2) (6+) compounds have been synthesized in high yield. These compounds and their Pd(2) (4+) counterparts as synthetic precursors mediate the diboration of vinylarenes and aliphatic 1-alkenes, and under mild and basic reaction conditions they produce a variety of 1,2-diboronate esters with excellent conversions and chemoselectivities. The presence of bis(catecholato)diboron (B(2)cat(2)) favours the reduction of Pd(III) to Pd(II), while the catalytic precursor of Pd(II) is transformed into Pd(0)-nanoparticles. An "in situ" catalytic tandem reaction has been designed to transform the diboronate intermediates into the monoarylated product, which after oxidative workup, provides the car…
