Right posterior diaphragmatic hernia (Bochdalek) with liver involvement and alteration of hepatic outflow in adult: a case report
2016
Introduction Posterior right diaphragmatic hernia is rare in newborn patients but when present, is accompanied by high mortality. Pulmonary hypoplasia seems to be the main cause of death but the presence of liver involvement remains one of the reasons for poor prognosis even when intrauterine surgery is performed. Case Description In this article, we will present a rare case that was diagnosed by chance in a 65-year old adult presenting with an adenocarcinoma of the rectosigmoid junction and a right Bochdalek hernia with liver herniation and modification of the hepatic vein outflow with a natural right to left shunt. Discussion Diaphragmatic repair was performed on the patient with a mash a…
COVID-19 Infection Process in Italy and Spain: Are Data Talking? Evidence From ARMA and Vector Autoregression Models
2020
COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) has spread successfully worldwide in a matter of weeks. After the example of China, all the affected countries are taking hard-confinement measures to control the infection and to gain some time to reduce the significant amount of cases that arrive at the hospital. Although the measures in China reduced the percentages of new cases, this is not seen in other countries that have taken similar measures, such as Italy and Spain. After the first weeks, the worry was whether or not the healthcare system would collapse rather than its response to the patient's needs who are infected and require hospitalization. Using China as a mirror of what could happen in ou…
Unusual recurrence of trigeminal neuralgia after microvascular decompression by muscle interposal.
2011
Summary Background Patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and persistent or recurrent facial pain after microvascular decompression (MVD) typically undergo less invasive procedures in the hope of providing pain relief. However, re-operation should be considered in selected patients. Case Report A 48-year-old woman presented with recurrent trigeminal neuralgia (TN) 3 years following microvascular decompression (MVD). The patient underwent brain magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), which did not reveal neurovascular compression; therefore surgical re-exploration was carried out. During the operation, the fifth cranial nerve was seen without impingement from any blood vessels; however, a ver…
Comptabilité à base d'activités (ABC) et activités informatiques : une contribution à l'amélioration des processus informatiques d'une banque
2010
The aim of the paper is to describe the Activity-based Costing and Management methods applied in France. For that purpose, we use a literature review and a case study. In a first time, we analyse the origins of the methods and their diffusion. Then we present the French situation. Finally, we propose a case study that takes place in a French bank. Our paper shows that the ABC and ABM methods are as developed in France as in the Anglo-Saxon countries and that the methods are strategically oriented.

How relevant is Kotter’s change theory on organizational change in meta-organizations : A case study of the ESNreview of the Erasmus Student Network
2019
Master's thesis Public Policy and Management ME502 - University of Agder 2019 Kotter’s 8-step organizational change model is amongst the most popular change models in the world, however despite its continued success as a popular science approach to the topic of organizational change, it has received limited attention from the scientific community, and little research has been done into how the model works in practice. This thesis is a case study into the use of Kotter’s change model, researching how well it may fit into a meta-organization. According to Ahrne and Brunsson, a lot of organizations may be described as meta-organizations, yet the research into this unique structure and its effe…
Mācību satura un valodas integrētas apguves pieejas izmantošana mācību priekšmetā "Politika un tiesībās" 12.klases skolēnu angļu valodas leksikas kom…
2022
Disability, illness and physical activity: a (post)qualitative research
2019
This PhD thesis is an assemblage of papers addressing 1) disability, illness and physical activity; and 2) (post)qualitative inquiry. The thesis tackles the case of Patrick, a man living with poor prognostic cancer and paraplegia. Overall, it examines in-depth how narrative and material forces acted by shaping Patrick’s struggle of becoming, and which role physical activity played in his life post-diagnosis. Data was obtained from life-story interviews, participant-produced images in different formats and object interviews, as well as three years of informal interactions with Patrick. The selection of data collection techniques was subjected to ethical considerations meant to preserve Patri…

The Design Science Research Process : A Model for Producing and Presenting Information Systems Research
2006
The authors design and demonstrate a process for carrying out design science (DS) research in information systems and demonstrate use of the process to conduct research in two case studies. Several IS researchers have pioneered the acceptance of DS research in IS, but in the last 15 years little DS research has been done within the discipline. The lack of a generally accepted process for DS research in IS may have contributed to this problem. We sought to design a design science research process (DSRP) model that would meet three objectives: it would be consistent with prior literature, it would provide a nominal process model for doing DS research, and it would provide a mental model for p…
