Enduring Sacred Places: The Astronomical Orientation of the Iberian Cave-Sanctuary of Cueva Santa del Cabriel in Spain

This paper presents the results of an archaeoastronomical study of the Iberian Iron Age cave-sanctuary of Cueva Santa del Cabriel, near the town of Mira in the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, central Spain, together with a review of the latest archaeological and ethnographical data about the site. We found that the cave's 12 m-long access corridor is oriented precisely along the summer solstice sunset, so that the north wall of the main gallery is partially illuminated by sunlight at this time. Structure and dielectric properties of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-CaTiO3 solid solutions

Despite wide studies of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3, structure of this material and its connection with the observed physical properties still raise numerous questions due to mutually contradicting results obtained. Here, structure and dielectric properties of poled and unpoled Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-CaTiO3 solid solutions are studied, projecting the obtained concentration dependence of structure and dielectric properties on pure Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 as the end member of this material group. Resistive communications based on neuristors

Memristors are passive elements that allow us to store information using a single element per bit. However, this is not the only utility of the memristor. Considering the physical chemical structure of the element used, the memristor can function at the same time as memory and as a communication unit. This paper presents a new approach to the use of the memristor and develops the concept of resistive communication.
Optical study for springback prediction, thickness reduction and forces variations on single point incremental forming

Abstract The goal of the present work is to present an experimental study regarding the influence of the main technological influence factors such as the vertical step and the punch diameter on the single point incremental forming process (SPIF). In this paper we estimate the influence of these two factors on springback, thickness reduction and forces. Both parameters were varied on two levels: (d) punch diameter 6 and 10 mm and (s) vertical step 0,1 and 0,5 mm. The experiments were done on experimental layout composed by a robot, a clamping system that contains the die’s lower part and the optical system.
Model building on the non-factorisable type IIA T6/(Z4×ΩR) orientifold

We construct global semi-realistic supersymmetric models with intersecting D6-branes on the non-factorisable orientifold . The non-factorisable structure gives rise to differences compared to the factorisable case: additional conditions for the three-cycles to be Lagrangian and extra constraints on the wrapping numbers for building fractional cycles.

Reactions between high purity FeCl2 and the anion [nido-7-(tBuHN)-7,8,9-C3B8H10)]− (1−) have been used for efficient syntheses of the twelve-vertex double-cluster metallatricarbollide complexes of the para,para (p,p) type [closo-9,9′(RHN)2-commo-2,2′-FeII-1,7,9-(C3B8H10)-1′,7′,9′-(C3B8H10)] (2) (2a, R = tBu and 2b, R = H) (yields 42−45% for 2a). Compound 2b, which contains two reactive amino substituents conveniently attached to the tricarbollide subclusters in p-positions with respect to the metal center, was prepared via facile cleavage of the tBu substituent in 2a either by AlCl3 or by thermal means. Surface sediment dynamics along the shore of Hammamet Gulf (Tunisia, southern Mediterranean)

International audience; In the summer of 2015 the authors analysed grain size and surface sediment composition through high spatial resolution from samples taken at 53 stations along the Hammamet coast (southern Mediterranean Sea). The Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler deployed in this study showed that the surface current flows toward the north-east, parallel to the coast at a maximum speed along the main axis of about 5.9 cm s−1. The Arctic CLoud Observations Using airborne measurements during polar Day (ACLOUD) campaign was carried out north-west of Svalbard (Norway) between 23 May and 6 June 2017. The objective of ACLOUD was to study Arctic boundary layer and mid-level clouds and their role in Arctic amplification. Two research aircraft (Polar 5 and 6) jointly performed 22 research flights over the transition zone between open ocean and closed sea ice. Both aircraft were equipped with identical instrumentation for measurements of basic meteorological parameters, as well as for turbulent and radiative energy fluxes. Flow resistance equation for rills

In this paper, a new flow resistance equation for rill flow was deduced applying dimensional analysis and self‐similarity theory. At first, the incomplete self‐similarity hypothesis was used for establishing the flow velocity distribution whose integration gives the theoretical expression of the Darcy–Weisbach friction factor. Then the deduced theoretical resistance equation was tested by some measurements of flow velocity, water depth, cross section area, wetted perimeter, and bed slope carried out in 106 reaches of some rills shaped on an experimental plot. Observations from satellites provide high-resolution images of ground deformation allowing to infer deformation sources by developing advanced modeling of magma ascent and intrusion processes. Nevertheless, such models can be strongly biased without a precise model of the internal structure of the volcano.
