In the present article has been analysed portrayals of older women which appear in the memoirs of the nineteenth century Russian women writers. J. Sushkova, A. Kern and A. Smirnova­-Rosset in their memoirs most often depict remarkable family members such as grandmothers and aunts, family friends. They focus on the analysis of their personalities, spiritual values and kind-heartedness rather than their physical appearance and signs of physical aging. Among the old ladies portrayed in the memoirs we encounter pious women, wise, experienced, understanding and hospitable women as well as overbearing women or even hostile towards other people. A través de ellos pudo cumplir con su servicio al rey y con sus responsabilidades como cabeza del linaje. Asimismo pudo completar su formación y satisfacer anhelos más personales. De todos sus viajes, los realizados dentro y fuera de España, guardó memoria escrita en un diario de viajes, un documento que, en formato manuscrito, se conservó en su archivo familiar. The article analyses letters exchanged in the years 1930 to 1949 between two outstanding Czech poets - Jan Zahradníček and František Halas. Despite their contrary views (Zahradníček was perceived as an ardent Catholic, while Hałas – as holding rather left-wing worldviews), their written communication is a testimony of their friendship which lasted for two decades. However, in the letters there are also expressed, especially in the final stage of their correspondence, numerous radical judgments of the thickening atmosphere (years of the war and Soviet domination) surrounding both artists as well as mutual assessments of their social and ethical attitudes. Tras una revisión de los antecedentes ilustrados y los periplos terapéuticos y profesionales en el primer alienismo, se describen los desplazamientos a instituciones psiquiátricas extranjeras, durante el segundo tercio del siglo XIX, de un grupo de médicos exiliados, comisionados y pioneros españoles. Who Dares to Wear Trousers? Adoption of a New Fashion by Finnish Women 1920–1980

Trousers have traditionally been men’s clothing that women have not been allowed to wear. In this article, I study the history of women’s wearing of trousers in the twentieth-century Finnish context by analysing women’s own memories and experiences of the trouser trend. My research material consists of written reminiscences, which I use, first, to reconstruct the social and cultural factors that framed women’s choices. Second, I approach their personal preferences and choices by analysing their narrative identities in the context of dress.
