Osimertinib in first-line treatment of advanced EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer: a cost–effectiveness analysis

Aim: Osimertinib improves progression-free survival in first-line EGFR mutation–positive non-small-cell lung cancer. Materials & methods: A Markov cohort model including costs, utilities and disutilities, was conducted to estimate quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) and incremental cost–effectiveness ratio when treating with osimertinib versus standard first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Results: Osimertinib presented higher QALYs (0.61) compared with standard EGFR–TKIs (0.42). Osimertinib costs were €83,258.99, in comparison with €29,209.45 for the standard EGFR–TKIs. Theoretical determination of the geometric and electronic structures of oligorylenes and poli(peri‐naphthalene)

We present a theoretical investigation of the electronic structure of oligorylenes (from perylene to heptarylene, including also the naphthalene molecule) and their corresponding polymer poly(peri‐naphthalene) (PPN) using the nonempirical valence effective (VEH) method. The geometry of the unit cell used to generate the polymer is extrapolated from the PM3‐optimized molecular geometries of the longest oligorylenes. That geometry shows some bond alternation along the perimeter carbon chains and a bond length of ≊1.46 Å is calculated for the peri bonds connecting the naphthalene units. LOCHKOVIAN TO PRAGIAN (LOWER DEVONIAN) NERITIC OSTRACODES FROM NIGÜELLA (ZARAGOZA, IBERIAN CHAINS, NE SPAIN)

Lochkovian and Pragian ostracodes from the area of Niguella (Iberian Chains), which is a key area for supra-regional correlation in the Early Devonian, are described for the first time. 12 ostracode taxa from the sections Ni4 and Ni2 could be identified. The silicified ostracodes of Eifelian Ecotype are low in biodiversity, have few individuals, and are comparatively poorly preserved. Characteristic taxa of the Devonian occur. Thus, the faunas show general relations to most European Early Devonian ostracode faunas. Closer relations exist to the Eastern Guadarrama. The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) was described in 1983 as a clinical entity characterized by venous and arterial thrombosis, thrombocytopenia, and recurrent fetal loss. The serological markers of APS are antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) directed mainly against anionic phospholipids, usually cardiolipin but also phosphatidylserine. Some APLA exhibit lupus anticoagulant activity. Monoclonal gammopathy sometimes occurs with the presence of autoantibodies. High sensitivity of free lambda and free kappa light chains for detection of intrathecal immunoglobulin synthesis in cerebrospinal fluid.

Background –  So far, an inflammation of the central nervous system (CNS) is diagnosed by immunoglobulin measurement in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum as well as by determination of the oligoclonal bands. With the free kappa and lambda light chains, new markers to diagnose intrathecal synthesis are available. Primary plasmacytoma of the skin without evidence of bone marrow plasmacytosis is a rare disorder belonging to the heterogenous spectrum of plasma cell neoplasms. With immunohistochemical techniques, differentiation from benign plasma cell aggregates can be accomplished by demonstrating the monoclonality of tumor cells. We describe a patient in whom a solitary primary cutaneous plasmacytoma developed on the left thigh. Immunohistochemically, plasma cells showed restriction of immunoglobulin lambda-chain expression. In the European Union (EU), treatment and cure of HCV with direct-acting antiviral therapies began in 2014. WHO targets are to achieve a 65% reduction in liver-related deaths, a 90% reduction of new viral hepatitis infections, and 90% of patients with viral hepatitis infections being diagnosed by 2030. Multipartite entanglement transfer in spin chains

We investigate the transfer of genuine multipartite entanglement across a spin-1/2 chain with nearest-neighbor XX-type interaction. We focus on the perturbative regime, where a block of spins is weakly coupled at each edge of a quantum wire, embodying the role of a multiqubit sender and receiver, respectively. We find that high-quality multipartite entanglement transfer is achieved at the same time that three excitations are transferred to the opposite edge of the chain. Moreover, we find that both a finite concurrence and tripartite negativity is attained at much shorter time, making GHZ-distillation protocols feasible. Spin chains for two-qubit teleportation

Generating high-quality multi-particle entanglement between communicating parties is the primary resource in quantum teleportation protocols. To this aim, we show that the natural dynamics of a single spin chain is able to sustain the generation of two pairs of Bell states - possibly shared between a sender and a distant receiver - which can in turn enable two-qubit teleportation. In particular, we address a spin-1/2 chain with XX interactions, connecting two pairs of spins located at its boundaries, playing the roles of sender and receiver.
