Cadmium-induced oxidative damage and protective action of fractioned red beet (Beta vulgaris) root juice in chickens

Article Cadmium (Cd) is one of the most dangerous environmental bioaccumulative pollutants that affects many organs in humans and animals. Present investigation was conducted to evaluate the protective effect of fractioned red beetroot juice on Cd - induced oxidative stress in chickens. The named red beetroot juice fraction (BJF) was received by juice ultrafiltration. Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli sequence type 131 (ST131), typically fluoroquinolone-resistant (FQ-R) and/or extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing, has emerged globally. Among clinical isolates, ST131, primarily its H30-R and H30-Rx subclones, accounts for most antimicrobial-resistant E. coli and is the dominant E. coli strain worldwide. mcr-1- like detection in commensal Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. from food-producing animals at slaughter in Europe

International audience; We evaluate here the presence of the mcr-1-like and mcr-2 genes in Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. isolated from healthy food-producing animals at slaughter between 2002 and 2014 in Europe. Isolates were retrieved from cattle, pig and chicken from 11 European countries of production. The susceptibility to colistin and antibiotics used in human medicine was determined by agar dilution. Inhibition of Fcγ Receptors in the Plasma of Subjects with Down's Syndrome

Abstract Subjects with Down's syndrome have several immunological abnormalities. We examined the sera of 29 subjects with Down's syndrome for the presence of Fcγ receptor blocking and for the presence of anti-ssDNA antibodies by EA rosette inhibition. Fifty-five percent of Down subjects had levels of inhibition above the upper limit of normality in comparison to 7% of normal controls. The finding that after polyethylene glycol precipitation of selected sera giving high levels of EA rosette inhibition there was a reduction or a disappearance of the EA rosette inhibition could indicate that the blocking factors detected behaved as immune complexes. Limited survey for the occurrence of aflatoxins in cereals and poultry feeds from Rabat, Morocco

Fifty eight (58) samples of cereals for human consumption (20 corn flour, 17 wheat flour) and poultry feeds (n=21) purchased from popular markets of Rabat in Morocco were analyzed for aflatoxins (AF) by HPLC with immunoaffinity column (IAC) clean-up and fluorimetric detection. The incidence of AF in corn, wheat flour and poultry feeds was about 80, 17.6 and 66.6% respectively. High contamination levels were found in corn and poultry feeds samples. Levels of contamination of analyzed samples with AFB1 ranged from 0.23 to 11.2, 0.03 to 0.15 and 0.05 to 5.38 ng/g for corn, wheat and poultry feeds respectively. Differential polyadenylation pattern of ovalbumin precursor RNAs during development.

The expression of the ovalbumin gene encoding for the major hen oviduct protein slows down with age. Analysis of Northern blots of electrophoretically separated total and poly(A) + RNA from oviducts of hens of different age with an ovalbumin-specific probe (nick-translated 9.5 kb ovalbumin gene DNA cloned into pBR322) revealed that the largest high molecular weight ovalbumin RNA precursor (7.9 kb band, representing the putative primary transcript of the ovalbumin gene) was most intense if total RNA from non-egg-laying old hen oviduct was checked as compared to that from egg-laying mature animals.
