Supported liquid membrane extraction with single hollow fiber for the analysis of fluoroquinolones from environmental surface water samples

2010

Abstract In this work, the simple analytical method for the determination of four fluoroquinolone antibiotics: ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, norfloxacin and danofloxacin, in environmental surface water samples is described. Sample pretreatment step was performed by the application of a technique based on supported liquid membrane extraction with the configuration of single hollow fiber (HF-SLM). The HPLC system with diode array detection was used for final analysis of studied analytes. Various parameters affecting the extraction efficiency during HF-SLM enrichment, such as type of membrane diluent, pH of donor (sample) and acceptor phases, as well as an enrichment time and salt content of sa…

Coincident glutamatergic depolarizations enhance GABAA receptor-dependent Cl- influx in mature and suppress Cl- efflux in immature neurons.

2021

The impact of GABAergic transmission on neuronal excitability depends on the Cl--gradient across membranes. However, the Cl--fluxes through GABAA receptors alter the intracellular Cl- concentration ([Cl-]i) and in turn attenuate GABAergic responses, a process termed ionic plasticity. Recently it has been shown that coincident glutamatergic inputs significantly affect ionic plasticity. Yet how the [Cl-]i changes depend on the properties of glutamatergic inputs and their spatiotemporal relation to GABAergic stimuli is unknown. To investigate this issue, we used compartmental biophysical models of Cl- dynamics simulating either a simple ball-and-stick topology or a reconstructed CA3 neuron. Th…

Supramolecular Eutecto Gels: Fully Natural Soft Materials

2018

The obtainment of materials featured by high environmental compatibility is one of the main goals of modern research. On this subject, we herein report the first example of supramolecular gel in deep eutectic solvents. In particular, we prepared gels of the L-amino acids isoleucine and tryptophan in choline chloride/phenylacetic acid 1:2. All gel components are readily available and nontoxic. Gels have been fully characterized by standard gelation tests, rheology, X-ray diffraction, morphology and gelation kinetics. Data collected show that gels properties depend on the gelator nature. In particular, gel phases exhibit strong colloidal forces and, this high mechanical resistance, together w…

Environmentally Friendly Eutectogels Comprising l-amino Acids and Deep Eutectic Solvents: Efficient Materials for Wastewater Treatment.

2020

Current concerns for sustainability and the environment make low-impact materials desirable for environmental remediation and, in particular wastewater treatment. We obtained supramolecular gels of l-amino acids in the deep eutectic solvent formed by choline chloride and phenylacetic acid. After gel characterization, and investigating gel-sol transition temperatures, gelation kinetics, rheological properties, and morphology, the gels were applied as sorbents to remove cationic dyes from aqueous solutions. The effects of the pH, dye nature, volume, and concentration of wastewater were analyzed, and the best result was obtained with a l-phenylalanine-based eutectogel. It can be reused for at …

Luting of ceramic crowns with a self-adhesive cement: Effect of contamination on marginal adaptation and fracture strength

2012

Objectives: This study evaluated the percentages of continuous margins (%CM) and fracture strength (FS) of crowns made out from blocs of leucite-reinforced ceramic (IPS Empress CAD) and luted with a representative self-adhesive cement (RelyX Unicem) under four contaminating agents: saliva, water, blood, a haemostatic solution containing aluminium chloride (pH= 0.8) and a control group with no contamination. Study Design: %CM at both tooth-cement (TC) and cement-crown (CC) interfaces were determined before and after a fatigue test consisting of 600’000 chewing loads and 1’500 temperature cycles changing from 5º C to 50º C. Load to fracture was recorded on fatigued specimens. Kruskal-Wallis t…

Synthesis, structure and in vitro anticancer activity of Pd(II) complexes of mono- and bis-pyrazolyl-s-triazine ligands

2020

Abstract The square planar complexes [Pd(MPT)Cl2] (1) and [Pd(BPT)Cl]ClO4 (2) were synthesized by the reaction of the 4,4′-(6-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl)dimorpholine (MPT) and N-methyl-N-phenyl-4,6-di(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine (BPT) ligands with PdCl2 (1:1) in acetone under thermal conditions, respectively. In complex 1, the Pd(II) ion is coordinated with the MPT ligand as a bidentate NN-chelate, augmented with two chloride ligands in cis positions. In complex 2, the Pd(II) ion is coordinated with the BPT ligand as a tridentate N-chelate in a pincer fashion, together with one chloride ligand. Hirshfeld analysis indicated that complex 1 is packed with…

Reactions of Aminobis(phenolate)‐Supported Dioxidotungsten(VI) and Dioxidomolybdenum(VI) Complexes

2006

The dioxidotungsten(VI) and -molybdenum(VI) complexes [WO2(O2NOMe)] (1), [MoO2(O2NOMe)] (2) and [{MoO2(O2NMe)}2] (3) [O2NOMe methoxyethylamino-N,N-bis(2-methylene-4,6-dimethylphenolate) dianion, O2NMe = methylamino-N,N-bis(2-methylene-4,6-dimethylphenolate) dianion] can react with chloride sources (Me3SiCl, SOCl2) to form resultant monooxido dichloro compounds [WOCl2(O2NOMe)] (4), [MoOCl2(O2NOMe)] (5) and [MoOCl2(O2NMe)] (6), respectively. The reaction of tungsten complex yields of the mixture of cis-4 and trans-4, which can be separated and characterized. The reactions of analogous molybdenum complexes with Me3SiCl yield trans isomers of 5 and 6 as individual products. Reaction of dioxidot…

Exchange Coupling Mediated by N–H···Cl Hydrogen Bonds: Experimental and Theoretical Study of the Frustrated Magnetic System in Bis(o-phenylenediamine…

2012

The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group with a = 11.2470(3) A, b = 5.9034(2) A, c = 12.0886(3) A, β = 115.143(1)°, and V = 726.58(4) A(3) and consists of discrete monomeric NiCl(2)(o-phenylendiamine)(2) molecules. Each o-phen ligand coordinates in a bidentate mode with the chloride ions occupying trans positions in the resulting tetragonally distorted octahedral coordination sphere. Two discrete sets of N-H···Cl hydrogen bonds link the octahedral molecules into a two-dimensional network, with type 1 interactions linking adjacent monomers along the c axis and type 2 interactions linking monomers along the diagonals in the bc plane. Analysis of the magnetic data …

Experimental and Computational Study of Unique Tetranuclear µ 3 ‐Chloride and µ‐Phenoxo/Chloro‐Bridged Defective Dicubane Cobalt(II) Clusters

2016

Two tetranuclear CoII clusters [Co4(L)2(µ3-Cl)2Cl2] have been prepared by using multidentate diaminobisphenolate ligands. The solid-state structures of the complexes were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The cores of the cluster compounds can be defined as a two-vertex-deficient dicubane geometry (pseudo-dicubane). In the central unit, the cobalt(II) cations are linked through phenoxide oxygen (outer bridges) and chloride anions (inner bridges), previously unprecedented in this type of cobalt cluster. The magnetic properties were studied by both experimental and computational methods. By using a combination of techniques, we were able to determine the nature and strength of t…

Determination of alternative preservatives in cosmetic products by chromophoric derivatization followed by vortex-assisted liquid-liquid semimicroext…

2016

An analytical method for the simultaneous determination of phenethyl alcohol, methylpropanediol, phenylpropanol, caprylyl glycol, and ethylhexylglycerin, which are used as alternative preservatives in cosmetic products, has been developed. The method is based on liquid chromatography with UV spectrophotometric detection after chromophoric derivatization with benzoyl chloride and vortex-assisted liquid-liquid semimicroextraction. Different chromatographic parameters, derivatization conditions, and sample preparation variables were studied. Under optimized conditions, the limits of detection values for the analytes ranged from 0.02 to 0.06µgmL(-1). The method was validated with good recovery …
