Abstract Plant species carry out a series of important biological, chemical and physical processes within a constructed wetland wastewater treatment system and make a significant contribution to wastewater purification. This paper compares two emergent macrophytes – Cyperus alternifolius L. and Typha latifolia L. – planted separately in a pilot horizontal subsurface flow system for the phytoremediation of treated urban wastewater in the West of Sicily (Italy). Background: Vertical transmission of HIV infection may occur during pregnancy, at childbirth or through breastfeeding. Recommendations on the safety of breastfeeding of HIV-infected women on effective antiretroviral treatment are not univocal among international guidelines (WHO 2010, EACS 2017, DHHS 2017), leaving space for variability at the patient’s level. Crowdfunding Models, Strategies, and Choices Between Them

AbstractThe growing popularity of crowdfunding is manifested through the proliferation of thousands of platforms globally. The current chapter presents an elaborate, up-to-date, and detailed typology of crowdfunding models currently in use, as well as their main characteristics. Furthermore, it suggests some of the first frameworks developed for guiding prospective fundraisers in choosing between models. Each of the frameworks is designed for a different type of fundraiser, including model choice heuristics for organizations and consumers. The chapter concludes with some suggestions for further research and implications for practice.

Akadēmiskā diskursa pētniecība ir piesaistījusi daudzu valodnieku interesi, taču līdz šim šajā jomā vēl nav veikta lingvistiskā analīze, lai raksturotu augstākās izglītības iestādes pētniecisko profilu. Šī darba mērķis bija kvantitatīvi un kvalitatīvi novērtēt Latvijas Universitātes Humanitāro zinātņu fakultātes pētniecisko profilu, apskatot fakultātes publikāciju virsrakstu lingvistiskās struktūras. Drawing on Eccles’ expectancy-value model of achievement-related choices, we examined how work values predict individual and gender differences in sciences, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) participations in early adulthood (ages of 25/27, 6 or 8 years after postsecondary school), controlling for subjective task values attached to academic subjects in late adolescence (11th grade, age 18). The study examined 1,259 Finnish participants using a person-oriented approach. Decision making can be facilitated by observing other individuals faced with the same or similar problem, and recent research suggests that this social information use is a widespread phenomenon. Implications of this are diverse and profound: for example, social information use may trigger cultural evolution, affect distribution and dispersal of populations, and involve intriguing cognitive traits.
