Measurement of an excess ofB¯→D(*)τ−ν¯τdecays and implications for charged Higgs bosons
2013
The concept for this analysis is to a large degree based on earlier BABAR work and we acknowledge the guidance provided by M. Mazur. The authors consulted with theorists A. Datta, S. Westhoff, S. Fajfer, J. Kamenik, and I. Nisandzic on the calculations of the charged Higgs contributions to the decay rates. We are grateful for the extraordinary contributions of our PEP-II colleagues in achieving the excellent luminosity and machine conditions that have made this work possible. The success of this project also relied critically on the expertise and dedication of the computing organizations that support BABAR. The collaborating institutions wish to thank SLAC for its support and the kind hospi…
Search for Anomalous Production of Events with a Photon, Jet, b-quark Jet, and Missing Transverse Energy
2009
We present a signature-based search for the anomalous production of events containing a photon, two jets, of which at least one is identified as originating from a b quark, and missing transverse energy ((sic)(T)). The search uses data corresponding to 2.0 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity from p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. From 6.697 47 x 10(6) events with a photon candidate with transverse energy E-T > 25 GeV, we find 617 events with (sic)(T) > 25 GeV and two or more jets with E-T > 15 GeV, at least one identified as originating from a b quark, versus an expectation of 607 +/- 113 event…
Toroidal magnetized iron neutrino detector for a neutrino factory
2013
A neutrino factory has unparalleled physics reach for the discovery and measurement of CP violation in the neutrino sector. A far detector for a neutrino factory must have good charge identification with excellent background rejection and a large mass. An elegant solution is to construct a magnetized iron neutrino detector (MIND) along the lines of MINOS, where iron plates provide a toroidal magnetic field and scintillator planes provide 3D space points. In this paper, the current status of a simulation of a toroidal MIND for a neutrino factory is discussed in light of the recent measurements of large theta(13). The response and performance using the 10 GeV neutrino factory configuration ar…

Iconography and monumental art in "feodal space" from the 10th to the 12th century : the depiction of the Three Kings and its spread
2012
This dissertation deals with the iconography of the Three Kings from the Xth to the XIIth century, by means of a study of its adaptation on monumental decoration in Latin Europe, so as to unravel how it was adapted by feudal society. In order to do so, the first question is that of the new royal status acquired in the Xth century by the Magi from the Gospel of Matthew, analyzed thanks to the concept of “ruler figure” that emerged at the time and was depicted by Marc Bloch in Les Rois thaumaturges (1924) and Ernst Kantorowicz in the The King’s Two Bodies (1957). The aim is to define where the newly defined Three Kings stand in the intricate network of “ties between man and man” theorized by …
Reliģiskais simbolisms Luīzes Erdrikas romānos
2018
Theological and doctrinal texts in the Old Frisian Thet Autentica Riocht
2015
The Frisian literary corpus is composed mostly by legal texts. However, interspersed in the law manuscripts, various texts of different nature are occasionally attested, several of which are of religious content. Among them, worthy of consideration are a number of short pieces devoted to theological and biblical topics, such as those contained in the so-called Thet autentica Riocht (fifteenth century): the Seven Virtues of the Mass, the Seven Things that God hates, the Ten Signs in the Host, the Three Unforgivable Sins, as well as a piece devoted to the benefits of confession. These texts share features with the Five Keys to Wisdom, a brief didactic treatise preserved in the First and Secon…
Prognostic value of CTCs in advanced NSCLC patients treated with platinum-based chemotherapy
2019
Abstract Background Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. At diagnosis, 70% of patients present advanced disease being chemotherapy the standard of care. Although, specific tumour biomarkers that allow a better treatment selection and monitoring is absent at the moment. Enumeration and characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have the potential to perform as a prognostic biomarker for a precision medicine approach to lung cancer care. The present study was conducted to validate the characterization CTCs from patients with advanced Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as a valuable tool for anticipating the disease evolution and the therapy response.…

Po co światu teologia? 25 lat Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego
2019
The 25th anniversary of the first Theological Faculty of the Opole University (the first created in a state university in Poland after 1945) is an opportunity to evoke its history and activities. The first chapter, by Mons. Alfons Nossol (Why the Opole region does need the University?), one of fathers of the University, describes the first efforts of Opole academic community in the early 1980’s to create the University in Opole. In the second chapter (From the Affiliated Faculty of KUL to the Faculty of Theology of Opole University), Rev. Helmut J. Sobeczko, the first Dean of the Faculty, explains the history of Opole theological community, indicating its sources in the Theological Seminary…
