Role of polysialic acid (PSA) in the control of food intake and body weight

Hypothalamus plays a major role in the regulation of energy homeostasis by the presence of neural circuits controlling food intake. These circuits are plastic and can be rewired during adulthood. We hypothesized that synaptic plasticity can occur during physiological conditions. We have shown that synaptic contact on hypothalamic anorexigen POMC neurons are rewired in mouse upon high fat diet (HFD). This synaptic process is mandatory to adjust energy intake and requires the glycan PSA (polysialic acid). The aim of this study was to assess the operational efficiency of agricultural training systems. Are the most highly trained farmers more efficient than those with less training ? This analysis focuses on the effects of training at two particular stages : when setting up a farm and deciding how it should be run, and during the initial stages, how efficiently the business is run. The findings show that the agricultural training systems should make greater efforts to accompany young farmers setting up in business, by helping them to define their farming objectives more clearly. This entry attempts to present the state of the art on the question of the cost-effectiveness analysis of distance teaching systems. It x-publicationlocationes especially two problems : the rapid evolution of information technologies introduces continuous changes in the combination of pedagogical inputs, from both a content and a cost point of view ; in addition, the new information technologies are also adopted within traditional face to face teaching, which leads to a reduction of the differencies between both modes of teaching delivery, and promotes some sort of convergence between the two systems.
