Fuzzy Variable Structure Control for Uncertain Systems with Disturbance
2012
Published version of an article from the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/105074 This paper focuses on the fuzzy variable structure control for uncertain systems with disturbance. Specifically, the fuzzy control is introduced to estimate the control disturbance, the switching control is included to compensate for the approximation error, and they possess the characteristic of simpleness in design and effectiveness in attenuating the control chattering. Some typical numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantage of the fuzzy variable structure controller proposed.
Locally Produced UHPC: The Influence of Type and Content of Steel Fibres
2021
Abstract Ultra-high performance concrete might be a competitive alternative to normal concrete for some purposes. But despite research efforts during decades, utilisation is still not widespread. Reasons include limited competence and material availability. This paper presents one step of a research initiative aimed at facilitating the use of UHPC in Norway. The step presented here comprises the accumulated results from investigations on the influence steel fibres (content, type, and hybrid combination) have on material strength and deformation behaviour of locally produced UHPC, made with constituents found in southern Norway. 231 specimens were tested, spanning nine UHPC mixes. Digital Im…
Managing a brand with a vision to marketing 5.0
2021
Marketing strives to add value to the company by aiming to attract customers, convincing them to develop a buying intention and eventually become consumers. The importance of marketing also lies in the famous quote from Steve Jobs: “Customers do not know what they want until we offer them.” Over time, marketing has gone through several stages and produced the step with the evolution of technological innovation that is essential for the future of any successful business. The rapid development of technology and the fact that it is now increasingly accessible in terms of learning and costs have led to its popularization among marketers and consumers. The complete paper proposes to present a fo…
Study on heredity value in communication skills, for improving individual performance in the workplace
2017
Effective communication is the wish of every intelligent organization. In today’s society, modern communication means saved time, reduced costs, multiplied resources. Communication can be improved early in the development. Heredity of communication can be an excuse, a brake but also a mean of focus personal resources early in child development. To establish the link between communication and heredity was conducted a study at a nursery school in Sibiu. It have been questioned a number of 98 adults and 45 children, using questionnaires for the evaluation of social and communication skills, attention to detail and distributive, and tolerance to change, carried out by researchers from United Ki…
Preservation of the artistic heritage within the seat of the Chancellorship of the University of Palermo
2006
The correct maintenance of artworks of historical and artistic value requires a wide and detailed analysis of all the information relevant for preserving them, such as identification of the main deterioration factors, knowledge of the climatic history of the object, set-up of measuring methods and statistics of the guide parameters, and definition of a set of recommended environmental aspects to be controlled within a stable climate condition linked to the particular kind of object or its surface. In Italy, the basic laws UNI 10829 and UNI 10969 impose a reference methodology for the in-field measurement and data analysis. This paper reports the first results of a measuring campaign, carrie…
Taxonomic and environmental implication of pedotechnique in large scale farming
2016
Abstract Human activities that involve deep modifications of the soils and a substantial deterioration of their features are numerous and very diverse. Such activities are considered as pedotechniques and, in large-scale farming, are used only under the boost of significant economic returns. In these last decades, the pedotechniques used to tailor soils suitable for table vine cultivation in the Acate valley (Sicily, Italy), not only led to objective difficulties in the classification of these deeply transformed soils but also, to several environmental hazards. In this work after considering the pedotechniques used in tailoring suitable soil for table vine cultivation, we propose to introdu…
Measurement system analysis by attribute, an effective tool to ensure the quality of the visual inspection process within an organization
2019
A successful quality assurance program in any organization needs good measurement systems. The concept of measurement system refers to the manpower, machines, materials, methods and mother nature involved in obtaining measurements. Measurement system analysis (MSA) is a set of procedures which are used to determine the amount of variation due to the measurement system and if the measurement data are valid. Most problematic measurement system issues come when the results of a measurement system are qualitative values such as “pass” or “fail” (attribute data) rather than quantitative values (variable data). Because in industry many measurement systems deal with qualitative data, the assessmen…
Landscape Urbanism and Architecture of the Voids
2017
This paper is focused on the relevance of the idea of “void” for the development of landscape urbanism. The theories of Secchi and Koolhaas are considered as far as a new acceptance of void is concerned. Furthermore the highly influential Chassé Terrain intervention in Breda b…
The bridge volcanic LIdar-BILLI: A review of data collection and processing techniques in the Italian most hazardous volcanic areas
2020
Volcanologists have demonstrated that carbon dioxide (CO2) fluxes are precursors of volcanic eruptions. Controlling volcanic gases and, in particular, the CO2 flux, is technically challenging, but we can retrieve useful information from magmatic/geological process studies for the mitigation of volcanic hazards including air traffic security. Existing techniques used to probe volcanic gas fluxes have severe limitations such as the requirement of near-vent in situ measurements, which is unsafe for operators and deleterious for equipment. In order to overcome these limitations, a novel range-resolved DIAL-Lidar (Differential Absorption Light Detection and Ranging) has been developed as part of…
Power Losses Minimization for Optimal Operating Maps in Power-Split HEVs: A Case Study on the Chevrolet Volt
2021
The power-split architecture is the most promising hybrid electric powertrain. However, a real advantage in energy saving while maintaining high performance can be achieved only by the implementation of a proper energy management strategy. This requires an optimized functional design before and a comprehensive analysis of the powertrain losses after, which could be rather challenging owing to the constructive complexity of the power-split transmission, especially for multi-mode architecture with multiple planetary gearing. This difficulty was overcome by a dimensionless model, already available in the literature, that enables the analysis of any power-split transmission, even in full electr…
