Poder local y evolución social en el País Valenciano del siglo XIX

2019

This paper offers the achievements and lacks of the studies on local power in the ancient Kingdom of Valencia during the XIXth century. The breakdown of the Ancien Regime by the liberal revolution is the point of departure. The process of social change started whith the revolution continued ever after the failure of the democratic experience thet begun at 1868. To discuss these topics (not always shared by spanish historians), it would be proposed the analysis of local cases during long-termed periods and a social approach to politics, specially referred to attitudes and action of lower social groups.

Coincidencias y disparidades entre los propietarios. El regadío valenciano del siglo XIX

2003

Recent developments in socio-economic research have centred on the key periods of the Liberal Revolution and state building in Spain, focusing on the analysis of specific landowners. This article discusses the theoretical issues raised by this type of analysis. The authors argue the importance of this method in view of the inadequacy of structure-based analysis of class, experience, interest and action Instead, attention should be paid not only to the simple fact of landowners hip, but to a series of simultaneous and opposite circumstances in terms of income, seigneurial rights and privileges, political traditions and abilities, and relations between landlords and tenants. The main elements…

Carlo Ginzburg. Cuando el historiador amoneda un símbolo

2020

2015

This article studies the Industrial School of Artisans of Valencia since its founding to its closure. This initiative promoted by the county council had the collaboration of the teaching staff of the Valencia public school, but had an uneven success depending on the political circumstances. However, the work of the school and its independence as a public institution aroused the suspicions of the patrons of the city of Valencia, who tried to control the access of workers to this type of education in order to strengthen relations of patronage in their companies.; El presente artículo estudia la Escuela Industrial de Artesanos de Valencia desde su fundación hasta su supresión. Iniciativa surgi…

Enseñar Sociología a quienes no estudian Sociología

2019

[EN] The sociological imagination (Wright Mills, 1993) is fundamental in the teaching profession. It is not possible to understand individuals’ actions of the different education agents without knowing their place in the social structure. The objective of this proposal is that the students of the Degree in Preschool Education (University of Valencia) achieve this point of view. The project starts with a flipped classroom methodology in combination with other active methodologies to end contrasting scientific knowledge with the daily teacher’s work, through the realization and analyses of interviews.

Modulation of NMDA receptor function by cyclic AMP in cerebellar neurones in culture

2004

The signal transduction pathways involved in NMDA receptor modulation by other receptors remain unclear. cAMP could be involved in this modulation. The aim of this work was to analyse the contribution of cAMP to NMDA receptor modulation in cerebellar neurones in culture. Forskolin increases cAMP and results in increased intracellular calcium and cGMP that are prevented by blocking NMDA receptors. Similar effects were induced by two cAMP analogues, indicating that cAMP leads to NMDA receptor activation. It has been reported that phosphorylation of Ser897 of the NR1 subunit of NMDA receptors by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) activates the receptors. Forskolin increases Ser897 phosphoryla…

Volatiles in pantellerite magmas: A case study of the Green Tuff Plinian eruption (Island of Pantelleria, Italy)

2013

Abstract The Green Tuff (GT) Plinian eruption, the largest in magnitude at Pantelleria, erupted 3 to 7 km3 DRE of pantellerite magma and a small volume of trachyte. Fifty-nine anorthoclase-hosted melt inclusions from the two basal pumice members were analyzed by FT-IR spectroscopy in order to assess the pre-eruptive H2O content in the pantellerite melt. Microanalytical methods were used to determine major element, Cl, F and S contents. Melt inclusions and glassy groundmasses have a nearly homogeneous pantelleritic composition (peralkaline index = 1.9-2.2) and variable water contents ranging from 1.4 to as high as 4.2 wt %, i.e. much higher than the 1.4 wt % of earlier published studies. The…

Melt inclusions and glassy groundmasses have a nearly homogeneous pantelleritic composition (peralkaline index = 1.9-2.2) and variable water contents ranging from 1.4 to as high as 4.2 wt % i.e. much higher than the 1.4 wt % of earlier published studies. The chlorine content is constant at about 1 wt %. Combined Cl and H2O data were used to estimate a confining pressure of about 50 MPa (depth around 2-3 km) for the GT magma chamber. The chamber was characterized by a compositional zoning with a dominant pantellerite overlying a trachyte magma. Soon after the GT eruption intra-caldera volcanism was dominated by the eruption of voluminous trachyte lavaflows while pantellerite melt production resumed after about 20 ka with numerous low-volume mildly explosive (Strombolian) to effusive eruptions. Comparison with data from the literature reveals that despite the differentexplosivity the post-caldera Strombolian eruptions and the GT Plinian eruption were fed by pantelleritic magmas with similar water contents. Chlorine and CO2contents suggest that the young magma reservoirs feeding the Strombolian to effusive activity were deeper (h≥4.5 km) than the much larger (based on erupted volumes) magma chamber which fed the GT eruptionGeologyMelt inclusionsJournal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research
