Klebsiella pneumoniae, a major cause of both hospital and community-acquired infections, is listed by the World Health Organization as a critical priority antibiotic- resistant bacterial pathogen. With the appearance of sequencing techniques such as Next-generation Sequencing (NGS), there is the possibility to obtain the whole genome of the bacteria, getting to know all antimicrobial resistance determinants. Melting point, molecular symmetry and aggregation of tetrachlorobenzene isomers: the role of halogen bonding

Tetrachlorobenzenes represent one of the best known, but not yet fully understood, group of isomers of the structure–melting point relationship. The differences in melting temperatures of these structurally related compounds were rationalized in terms of the hierarchy and nature of formed noncovalent interactions, and the molecular aggregation that is influenced by molecular symmetry. The highest melting point is associated with the highly symmetric 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene isomer. Hippocampal theta phase-contingent memory retrieval in delay and trace eyeblink conditioning

Hippocampal theta oscillations (3–12 Hz) play a prominent role in learning. It has been suggested that encoding and retrieval of memories are supported by different phases of the theta cycle. Our previous study on trace eyeblink conditioning in rabbits suggests that the timing of the conditioned stimulus (CS) in relation to theta phase affects encoding but not retrieval of the memory trace. Merit, Competition, Distinction

The article presents a critique of competition by introducing a concept called 'distinction'. Competition is thought to work as a guarantee of the fairness of meritocratic procedures (merit-based recruiting in the job market or e.g. entrance examinations). However, fairness created by competition is, even at its best, only relative. This critique is then used a part of a larger critique of the role of merit in society.
