Internal spring distribution for quasi brittle fracture via Symmetric Boundary Element Method

2009

Abstract In this paper the symmetric boundary element formulation is applied to the fracture mechanics problems for quasi brittle materials . The basic aim of the present work is the development and implementation of two discrete cohesive zone models using Symmetric Galerkin multi-zone Boundary Elements Method . The non-linearity at the process zone of the crack will be simulated through a discrete distribution of nodal springs whose generalized (or weighted) stiffnesses are obtainable by the cohesive forces and relative displacements modelling. This goal is reached coherently with the constitutive relation σ − Δ u that describes the interaction between mechanical and kinematical quantities…

Protective effect of adenylate deaminase (from Penicillium lanoso-viride) against acute infections in mice

1996

We examined the effects of the immunomodulator-adenylate deaminase (E.C. 3.5.4.6) from Penicillium lanoso-viride on experimental mice infections. Prophylactic intraperitoneal administration of adenylate deaminase (ADA) increased survival time and numbers of survivors after infection with Salmonella typhimurium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and influenza A (H3N2) virus. Protection against influenza virus after intranasal ADA application was also observed. The influence of ADA was time and dose dependent. The most pronounced protection was obtained by administration of 3 U ADA/mice 24 h prior to infection. ADA had no antibiotic effect against these bacterial strains. Protective effects of ADA were …

Effect of introduction of HACCP on the microbiological quality of some restaurant meals

2002

The microbial quality of Spanish potato omelette and pork loin before and after implementation of the HACCP system in University restaurants was used as indicator of food safety in this work. The prevalence of aerobic plate counts and incidences of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, E. coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp. and Clostridium perfringens were analysed. Results of implementation of the HACCP system show a lower incidence of studied microorganisms. On the other hand, a documented training in personal hygiene, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), cleaning and sanitation procedures and personal safety in addition to the rearrangement in the infrastructure of t…

Assessment of microbial quality of commercial and home-made tiger-nut beverages

2012

Aims:  We aimed to assess the microbiological quality of Spanish commercial tiger-nut beverages as well as home-made samples collected from supermarkets, street vendors, juice bars and ice-cream parlours located in Valencia. Methods and Results:  Microbiological analysis of 44 tiger-nut beverages samples were carried out according to International Standard Organization (ISO) norms and published works which included the total viable count, Enterobacteriaceae, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella, Bacillus cereus, yeasts, moulds, Yersinia enterocolitca, Clostridium perfringens, Vibrio spp. and Listeria monocytogenes. The obtained results indicated that all the commercial sample…

L’ENCEINTE NÉOLITHIQUE DE CRAVANT HAUT DE BRÉVIANDE, COMMUNE DE DEUX-RIVIÈRES (YONNE)et la séquence chronologique du début du Néolithique autour de l…

2022

Registration of arbitrary multi-view 3D acquisitions

2013

International audience; To register 3D meshes representing smooth surfaces we track the 3D digitization system using photogrammetric techniques and calibrations. We present an example by digitizing a 800 mm x 600 mm portion of a car door. To increase the tracking accuracy the 3D scanner is placed in a cubic frame of side 0.5 m covered with 78 targets. The target frame moves in a volume that is approximately 1100 mm x 850 mm x 900 mm, to digitize the area of interest. Using four cameras this target frame is tracked with of an accuracy of 0.03 mm spatially and 0.180 mrad angularly. A registration accuracy between 0.1 mm and 2 mm is reached. This method can be used for the registration of mesh…

An attribute based access control scheme for secure sharing of electronic health records

2016

Electronic health records (EHRs) play a vital role in modern health industry, allowing the possibility of flexible sharing of health information in the quest of provisioning advanced and efficient healthcare services for the users. Although sharing of EHRs has significant benefits, given that such records contain lot of sensitive information, secure sharing of EHRs is of paramount importance. Thus, there is a need for the realization of sophisticated access control mechanisms for secure sharing of EHRs, which has attracted significant interest from the research community. The most prominent access control schemes for sharing of EHRs found in literature are role based and such solutions have…

Reoperations After First Lumbar Disk Herniation Surgery with or without Implantation of Mechanical Annular Closure Device

2019

Lumbar diskectomy is a widely performed surgical procedure in patients affected by lumbar disk herniation (LDH). Such a surgical procedure is considered to be safe and able to provide a consistent symptomatic relief in most patients. However, perioperative complications have been reported, ranging from 13% to 15%, and pose a considerable financial burden among patients, hospitals, and national health care agencies. The most common perioperative complication following lumbar diskectomy for disk herniation is the recurrence. Although the recurrence rate of LDH has been reported to be 5%−15%, its exact incidence may be underestimated. Recurrent lumbar disk herniation (rLDH) is defined as disk …

COVID-19 y escuela a distancia: viejas y nuevas desigualdades

2021

General Theory: Algebraic Point of View

2009

It is convenient to divide our study of pip-spaces into two stages. In the first one, we consider only the algebraic aspects. That is, we explore the structure generated by a linear compatibility relation on a vector space V , as introduced in Section I.2, without any other ingredient. This will lead us to another equivalent formulation, in terms of particular coverings of V by families of subspaces. This first approach, purely algebraic, is the subject matter of the present chapter. Then, in a second stage, we introduce topologies on the so-called assaying subspaces \(\{V_r \}\). Indeed, as already mentioned in Section I.2, assuming the partial inner product to be nondegenerate implies tha…
