The sea urchin early histone repeating unit contains one copy of each of the five histone genes whose coordinate expression during development is regulated by gene-specific elements. To learn how within the histone repeating unit a gene-specific activator can be prevented to communicate with the heterologous promoters, we searched for domain boundaries by using the enhancer blocking assay. Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules mediating the translational repression and degradation of target mRNAs in the cell. Mature miRNAs are used as a template by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to recognize the complementary mRNAs to be regulated. To discern further RISC functions, we analyzed the activities of two RISC proteins, AGO2 and GW182, in the MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line. However, few studies have compared the performance of eDNA versus eRNA metabarcoding in assessing organismal response to marine pollution, in experimental conditions. In the olfactory bulb, lateral inhibition mediated by granule cells has been suggested to modulate the timing of mitral cell firing, thereby shaping the representation of input odorants. Current experimental techniques, however, do not enable a clear study of how the mitral-granule cell network sculpts odor inputs to represent odor information spatially and temporally. Correspondence between some metabelian varieties and left nilpotent varieties

Abstract In the class of left nilpotent algebras of index two it was proved that there are no varieties of fractional polynomial growth ≈ n α with 1 α 2 and 2 α 3 instead it was established the existence of a variety of fractional polynomial growth with α = 7 2 . In this paper we investigate similar problems for varieties of commutative or anticommutative metabelian algebras. We construct a correspondence between left nilpotent algebras of index two and commutative metabelian algebras or anticommutative metabelian algebras and we prove that the codimensions sequences of the corresponding algebras coincide up to a constant. The present paper looks at the potential of the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) and its underlying basis in attachment theory for use in psychotherapeutic work. We summarize the basic tenets of attachment theory, detail the content and structure of the AAI, provide instructions for conducting the AAI, and introduce the Main et al. (2002) coding system. We then report on associations between AAI-Attachment groups and psychosomatic diseases and, finally, demonstrate applications of the AAI in clinical work and research.

Cloning and sequencing of the chicken egg-white avidin-encoding gene and its relationship with the avidin-related genes Avrl-Avr5

Abstract The gene encoding chicken egg-white avidin (Avd) was amplified from chromosomal DNA, cloned and sequenced. The entire coding region of preavidin (pre-Avd) containing four exons was identified by comparing the Avd gene (1119 bp) with the cDNA. It had a high identity percentage (91–95%) with the previously isolated Avd-related genes 1–5 (Avrl–Avr5) . Interestingly, comparison of Avd with the Avr genes showed that the introns were better conserved (on average 97%) than the exons (90%). The Avd gene, as well as the cDNA, encodes a Gln residue at position 53 of the mature protein, which is in contrast to the previously determined amino-acid sequence.

Semmes surfaces and intrinsic Lipschitz graphs in the Heisenberg group

A Semmes surface in the Heisenberg group is a closed set $S$ that is upper Ahlfors-regular with codimension one and satisfies the following condition, referred to as Condition B. Every ball $B(x,r)$ with $x \in S$ and $0 < r < \operatorname{diam} S$ contains two balls with radii comparable to $r$ which are contained in different connected components of the complement of $S$. Analogous sets in Euclidean spaces were introduced by Semmes in the late $80$'s. We prove that Semmes surfaces in the Heisenberg group are lower Ahlfors-regular with codimension one and have big pieces of intrinsic Lipschitz graphs.
