Experimental evidence of X-shaped spatiotemporal coherence of superfluorescence radiation
2006
Considering the parametric generation process in a quadratic nonlinear crystal, we report the experimental observation of optical waves characterized by a X-shaped spatiotemporal coherence, i.e. a coherence skewed along spatiotemporal trajectories.
Quantum Spin Dynamics of Mode-Squeezed Luttinger Liquids in Two-Component Atomic Gases
2007
We report on the observation of the phase dynamics of interacting one-dimensional ultracold bosonic gases with two internal degrees of freedom. By controlling the non-linear atomic interactions close to a Feshbach resonance we are able to induce a phase diffusive many-body spin dynamics. We monitor this dynamical evolution by Ramsey interferometry, supplemented by a novel, many-body echo technique. We find that the time evolution of the system is well described by a Luttinger liquid initially prepared in a multimode squeezed state. Our approach allows us to probe the non-equilibrium evolution of one-dimensional many-body quantum systems.
Quantum benchmark for teleportation and storage of squeezed states.
2007
We provide a quantum benchmark for teleportation and storage of single-mode squeezed states with zero displacement and a completely unknown degree of squeezing along a given direction. For pure squeezed input states, a fidelity higher than 81.5% has to be attained in order to outperform any classical strategy based on an estimation of the unknown squeezing and repreparation of squeezed states. For squeezed thermal input states, we derive an upper and a lower bound on the classical average fidelity which tighten for moderate degree of mixedness. These results enable a critical discussion of recent experiments with squeezed light.
The algebra eigenstates method for some systems with spin-like interactions
2006
International audience; An extension of the algebra eigenstates formalism is proposed to solve the eigenvalue equation for a class of problems involving "spin interactions". The method is detailed for the harmonic oscillator, su(2) and su(1, 1) algebras. Special emphasis is given to the resolution of problems in vibronic spectroscopy involving doubly degenerate electronic states.
Characterization of Hong-Ou-Mandel bunched states by quantum homodyne tomography
2014
We experimentally demonstrate quantum homodyne tomography of Hong-Ou-Mandel bunched states, which are created by dynamically adjusting emission timings of two heralded single photons using coupled cavities.
Pseudobosons, Riesz bases, and coherent states
2010
In a recent paper, Trifonov suggested a possible explicit model of a PT-symmetric system based on a modification of the canonical commutation relation. Although being rather intriguing, in his treatment many mathematical aspects of the model have just been neglected, making most of the results of that paper purely formal. For this reason we are re-considering the same model and we repeat and extend the same construction paying particular attention to all the subtle mathematical points. From our analysis the crucial role of Riesz bases clearly emerges. We also consider coherent states associated to the model.
Quons, coherent states and intertwining operators
2009
We propose a differential representation for the operators satisfying the q-mutation relation $BB^\dagger-q B^\dagger B=\1$ which generalizes a recent result by Eremin and Meldianov, and we discuss in detail this choice in the limit $q\to1$. Further, we build up non-linear and Gazeau-Klauder coherent states associated to the free quonic hamiltonian $h_1=B^\dagger B$. Finally we construct almost isospectrals quonic hamiltonians adopting the results on intertwining operators recently proposed by the author.
Extended SUSY quantum mechanics, intertwining operators and coherent states
2009
Abstract We propose an extension of supersymmetric quantum mechanics which produces a family of isospectral Hamiltonians. Our procedure slightly extends the idea of intertwining operators. Several examples of the construction are given. Further, we show how to build up vector coherent states of the Gazeau–Klauder type associated to our Hamiltonians.
Control of Localization and Suppression of Tunneling by Adiabatic Passage
2004
We show that a field of frequency $\ensuremath{\omega}$ combined with its second harmonic $2\ensuremath{\omega}$ driving a double-well potential allows us to localize the wave packet by adiabatic passage, starting from the delocalized ground state. The relative phase of the fields allows us to choose the well of localization. We can suppress (and restore) the tunneling subsequently by switching on (and off) abruptly the fields at well-defined times. The mechanism relies on the fact that the dynamics is driven to an eigenstate of the Floquet Hamiltonian which is a localized state.
Teleportation-assisted optical controlled-sign gates
2019
Reliable entangling gates for qubits encoded in single-photon states represent a major challenge on the road to scalable quantum computing architectures based on linear optics. In this work, we present two approaches to develop high-fidelity, near-deterministic controlled-sign-shift gates based on the techniques of quantum gate teleportation. On the one hand, teleportation in a discrete-variable setting, i.e., for qubits, offers unit-fidelity operations but suffers from low success probabilities. Here, we apply recent results on advanced linear optical Bell measurements to reach a near-deterministic regime. On the other hand, in the setting of continuous variables, associated with coherent …
