Low-lying levels of 188Re nucleus from γγ-coincidence measurements
2010
Low–high and low–low energy γγ-coincidences, following the Re187(n,γ)Re188 reaction with thermal neutrons, have been measured. Spectra have been recorded in the energy range from 50 to 2600 keV, and from 4500 to 6500 keV. The earlier known 188Re level scheme is corrected and extended up to ∼800 keV excitation energy and 62 levels by including 20 new levels. For 11 levels, the earlier interpretation has been changed. The complete level scheme is presented for up to ∼400 keV energy and spins ⩽5. Core plus two-quasiparticles model calculations have been performed. Some 188Re two-quasiparticle states display features indicating the nuclear shape phase transition from axial-deformation to γ-soft…
π+π− coincidence measurement in the 4He(π+, π+π−) reaction at Tπ+ = 280 MeV
1992
Abstract The pion induced pion production (π, 2π) reaction on deuterium has been studied at an incident pion energy of 280 MeV. The outgoing pions were detected in coincidence and the measured four-fold cross sections were compared with a πN → ππ N microscopic model, and, upon integration, with the available experimental total cross sections from the same reaction on H and 2 H. Finally, the results were directly compared with recent data from the 16 O(π + , π + π − ) reaction at the same incident energy.
Coincidence experiments with electrons
1995
Coincidence experiments with electrons provide new information on the structure of nucleons and nuclei. Using new CW accelerators, kinematic regions can be explored with high precision which have not been accessible previously. The equipment and the necessary steps in the analysis of (e,e′p) experiments will be discussed and illustrated with new data taken at the MAMI facility.
The MAMI-project
2008
In the energy region up to one GeV the "racetrack"-microtron /1/ offers an economic way to achieve a 100% duty factor e--beam with a high current (IO0~A) and a well defined energy (Ap/p ~ 10-4). Such an e--beam appears to be ideal for the experimental investigation of the nucleus: coincidence experiments of the type (e,e'x) and (e,e'xy) become possible in a wide kinematical region yielding information about the response of the nucleus to the transferred energy and momentum. By the method of bremsstrahl-tagging, for the f i r s t time, rather intensive ( few times 107/sec) photon beams with high monochromaticity and well known fluxes wi l l be available. To make the best use out of such new …
Levels in104Ru populated by the ??-decay of104Tc
1978
Theβ− — andγ-activities of 18.4 min104Tc have been studied with singles and coincidence measurements. Sources were prepared by chemical separation of technetium from the fission products of thermal-neutron-induced fission of235U. A revised level scheme of104Ru up to an excitation energy of 4.26 MeV is proposed. Fromβ-γ coincidence measurements, aQβ-value of 5.62±0.07 MeV has been obtained.
Directional correlations of some γ-ray cascades in200Hg
1971
Directional correlation functions of 10 γ-ray cascades in200Hg have been measured using a200Tl source and a Ge(Li)-NaI(Tl) coincidence spectrometer arrangement. Values of the mixing parameter δ for several transitions are determined, and the spin assignments for the following levels in200Hg are established (level energies are given in keV): 1029.4 (0+), 1254.2 (2+), 1573.7 (2+), 1593.4 (2+), 1641.5 (2+), 1730.9 (2+) and 1775.6 (3+).
Decay of 14.6 h90Nb
1975
The disintegration of 14.6 h90Nb produced by bombarding natural Zr with 13 MeV protons was investigated by methods of γ-ray spectrometry. Results from singles, coincidence and anti-Compton spectrometer measurements are reported. A decay scheme is proposed including excited states in90Zr at 1761, 2186.4, 2319.1, 2739.4, 2747.9, 3077.0, 3448.2, 3589.5, 3977.1, 4232.4, 4319.5, 4375.4, 4541.6, 5060.0, 5164.6 and 5432.9 keV. Over 10 γ-ray transitions and several levels proposed in an earlier investigation are shown to be in error.
Direct decay of the giant dipole resonance in58,60Ni and64Zn from (e, c) experiments
1988
(e,e'c) coincidence experiments at a momentum transfer of q=0.27 fm−1 to study the decay of the giant dipole resonance in58,60Ni and64Zn show deviations from photonuclear results and reveal strong contributions of direct decay to proton hole states.
Beta decay energies and nuclear masses of148Ba,148La and151Pr
1990
Theβ-decay energy of the neutron-rich isotopes148Ba,148La and151Pr has been measured at the Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL). The148Ba- and148La-nuclei were produced using a high-temperature ion source at the OSTIS separator of this institute, whereas samples of151Pr were obtained from the thermal fission of239Pu, used as a target in the mass separator LOHENGRIN. At both instruments,βγ-coincidences were measured with a plastic scintillator telescope and a Ge(I)-detector, together withβ-singles andγ-singles spectra. Theβ-spectra emitted in coincidence with 44γ-lines in the decay of these nuclei have been evaluated. From their endpoint energies, the followingQβ-values have been obtained:Qβ(148Ba…
Microsecond isomers in 187Tl and 188Pb
2000
Lifetime measurements of states in nuclei with A=187 and 188 have been performed, using reactions between 155Gd and 36Ar and following the transport of evaporation residues to the focal plane of a gas-filled recoil separator. In a separate experiment using the 159Tb(32S, 4n) reaction the γ-decay of isomeric levels in 187Tl has been studied using delayed γ-γ coincidence measurements. From observation of their subsequent γ decay, the mean lifetimes were measured to be 1000 ± 55 ns and 1600 ± 100 ns. Although it was not possible to characterize the isomers completely, they are proposed as candidates for one-proton, two-neutron excitations. In the course of this study, the decay of an isomer in…
