High performance p-type segmented leg of misfit-layered cobaltite and half-Heusler alloy

In this study, a segmented p-type leg of doped misfit-layered cobaltite Ca_(2.8)Lu_(0.15)Ag_(0.05)Co_4O_(9+δ) and half-Heusler Ti_(0.3)Zr_(0.35)Hf_(0.35)CoSb_(0.8)Sn_(0.2) alloy was fabricated and characterized. The thermoelectric properties of single components, segmented leg, and the electrical contact resistance of the joint part were measured as a function of temperature. The output power generation characteristics of segmented legs were characterized in air under various temperature gradients, ΔT, with the hot side temperature up to 1153 K. The generation of permanent compressive stresses around the holes is recognized as a valuable mean to delay the onset and propagation of the defects and to extend the fatigue life of the mechanical components. In the work, a bilateral indentation process, performed on each side of the component, is widely used in order to create a residual circumferential stress field around the area to be drilled and that persists after the drilling operation. Objectives: This study evaluated the in vivo effectiveness of Universal Dentin Sealant (UDS), a new resin-based material, as dentinal desensitizing agent on dentin morphology and clinical symptoms. Materials and methods: Thirty premolars, exhibiting non-carious cervical lesions, and scheduled for extraction for periodontal reasons, were selected for the ultrastructural study. These samples were randomly divided into three groups ( n = 10): group 1, brushing with UDS; group 2, brushing with Flor-Opal ® Varnish (FOV); and group 3, untreated control. Effect of Cold Working and Ring Indentation on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy Specimens

The article deals with the fatigue life of plates with hole made of aluminum alloy. Specifically, the combined effect of cold working expansion and ring indentation on improved fatigue life performance was investigated. Multiple fatigue tests were performed to determine the cycles to failure and the corresponding W¨ ohler diagram. Experimental results were compared with those of nontreated specimens. The conclusion was that cold working expansion and indentation create a delay on crack formation and fatigue failure.
Spectroscopic method to study low charge state ion and cold electron population in ECRIS plasma

The results of optical emission spectroscopy experiments probing the cold electron population of a 14 GHz Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) are reported. The study has been conducted with a high resolution spectrometer and data acquisition setup developed specifically for the diagnostics of weak emission line characteristic to ECRIS plasmas. The optical emission lines of low charge state ions and neutral atoms of neon have been measured and analyzed with the line-ratio method. Extending an example by Colding and Minicozzi, we construct a sequence of properly embedded minimal disks $\Sigma_i$ in an infinite Euclidean cylinder around the $x_3$-axis with curvature blow-up at a single point. The sequence converges to a non smooth and non proper minimal lamination in the cylinder. Moreover, we show that the disks $\Sigma_i$ are not properly embedded in a sequence of open subsets of $\mathbb{ R}^3$ that exhausts $\mathbb{ R}^3$.
