Il vino e la fermentazione alcolica
2013
A study on the literary strategies through which Virgil's Bucolics, Tibullus' Elegies and Calpurnius Siculus' Eclogues 'include' literary patrons in the pastoral world.

Molecular complexes between glycolic acid and nitrogen were studied in a low-temperature argon matrix with FTIR spectroscopy, and supported by MP2 and BLYPD3 calculations. The calculations indicate 11 and 10 stable complex structures at the MP2 and BLYPD3 levels of theories, respectively. However, only one hydrogen-bonded complex structure involving the most stable SSC conformer of glycolic acid was found experimentally, where the nitrogen molecule is bound with the carboxylic OH group of the SSC conformer. The complex shows a rich site structure variation upon deposition of the matrix in different temperatures and upon annealing experiments, which provide interesting prospects for site-sel…
Chromatographic Determination of Thiols After Pre‐column Derivatization witho‐Phthalaldehyde and Isoleucine
2004
Abstract The reaction of primary amines with excess o‐phthalaldehyde (OPA) and thiol yields unique isoindole derivatives that are readily separated by reversed‐phase liquid chromatography. In a previous work, a spectrophotometric procedure was proposed for the assay of N‐acetylcysteine by derivatization with OPA and isoleucine at pH 9.5, with satisfactory results. The chromatographic determination of this and other low molecular‐weight thiols, after isoindole formation with isoleucine, using mobile phases of acetonitrile–water at pH 3 and spectrophotometric detection, is now examined. From the assayed thiols (thioglycolic acid, 3‐mercaptopropionic acid, tiopronin, N‐acetylcysteine, N‐acetyl…
Within the vast bibliography of Giovanni Meo Zilio (1923-2006) stand out the richness and variety of the works of linguistics and dialectology that, since 1955, the scholar dedicated to the rioplatense area. Giovanni Meo Zilio shows a …

"Click" on PLGA-PEG and hyaluronic acid: gaining access to anti-leishmanial pentamidine bioconjugates
2018
Pentamidine (Pent), an antiparasitic drug used for the treatment of visceral leishmaniasis, has been modified with terminal azide groups and conjugated to two different polymer backbones (PLGA-PEG [PP] copolymer and hyaluronic acid [HA]) armed with alkyne end-groups. The conjugation has been performed by Copper Catalyzed Azido Alkyne Cycloaddition (CuAAC) using CuSO4/sodium ascorbate as metal source. The novel PP-Pent and HA-Pent bioconjugates are proposed, respectively, as non-targeted and targeted drug delivery systems against Leishmania infections. Moreover, Pent has been encapsulated into PP nanoparticles by the oil-in-water emulsion method, with the aim to compare the biological activi…

Suture intradermiche totali
2010
Two kind of total intradermal suture techniques are described in the present report. These procedures allow an effective reduction of post-operative pain of surgical wound, prevent infections, cut down tissutal trauma, achieve better aesthetic results, making easier postoperative patient''s management. From January 2001 to December 2007, 1,427 patients underwent surgical treatment and the wounds have been sewn with self-locking knots or intradermal skin closure with introflecting knots. This kind of procedures allow a sharp reduction of postoperative pain as well as the incidence of wound infections. Also the number of wound medication required after surgery is significantly reduced.
