H-2 vibrational spectral signatures in binary and ternary mixtures: theoretical model, simulation and application to CARS thermometry in high pressur…
2001
International audience; A summary of the main results obtained by the two groups in the field of H-2 vibrational spectral line signatures for various mixtures. in connection with CARS diagnostics of H-2-O-2 combustion systems, is presented. H-2-X Systems may have specific large inhomogeneous spectral features, due to the dependence of the line broadening and line shifting on the (H-2) radiator speed, particularly at high temperature. Thus, careful attention has to be paid to rigorously analyze such features, both from the experimental point of view (Dijon) and from the theoretical one (Besancon). Applications of the present results to high-pressure H-2/air flame thermometry are also briefly…
ATOM-WALL COLLISIONS INFLUENCE ON DARKLINE ATOMIC RESONANCES IN SUBMICRON THIN VAPOUR CELLS.
2010
Recently it was demonstrated that miniaturization of alkali cells, i.e. the use of an extremely thin cell (ETC) for the applications using the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect, despite to intuitive expectation, does not cause a strong broadening of the dark-line (DL) linewidth. Here we present the conditions when a strong broadening of DL linewidth (more than by 10 times) can be easily observed due to atom-wall collisions influence and this could be a convenient and robust tool for atomwall (i.e. ETC's window material/temperature) collisions study. We present experimental and theoretical results on EIT realized in a Λ- system of 85Rb, D2 line, 5S-5P-5S for a Rb vapour c…
Measurement of the higher-order anisotropic flow coefficients for identified hadrons in Au + Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV
2016
Measurements of the anisotropic flow coefficients v2{2}, v3{3}, v4{4}, and v4{2} for identified particles (π±, K±, and p + p¯) at midrapidity, obtained relative to the event planes m at forward rapidities in Au + Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV, are presented as a function of collision centrality and particle transverse momenta pT . The vn coefficients show characteristic patterns consistent with hydrodynamical expansion of the matter produced in the collisions. For each harmonic n, a modified valence quark-number Nq scaling [plotting vn{m}/(Nq ) n/2 versus transverse kinetic energies (KET )/Nq ] is observed to yield a single curve for all the measured particle species for a broad range of …

Measurement of higher cumulants of net-charge multiplicity distributions in Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 7.7-200 GeV
2016
We report the measurement of cumulants (Cn,n = 1,...,4) of the net-charge distributions measured within pseudorapidity (|η| < 0.35) in Au + Au collisions at √sNN = 7.7–200 GeV with the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The ratios of cumulants (e.g., C1/C2, C3/C1) of the net-charge distributions, which can be related to volume independent susceptibility ratios, are studied as a function of centrality and energy. These quantities are important to understand the quantum-chromodynamics phase diagram and possible existence of a critical end point. The measured values are very well described by expectation from negative binomial distributions. We do not observe any nonmono…
Charged jet cross sections and properties in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV
2015
The differential charged jet cross sections, jet fragmentation distributions, and jet shapes are measured in minimum bias proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energy ffiffi s p ¼ 7 TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed from charged particle momenta in the midrapidity region using the sequential recombination kT and anti-kT as well as the SISCone jet finding algorithms with several resolution parameters in the range R ¼ 0.2–0.6. Differential jet production cross sections measured with the three jet finders are in agreement in the transverse momentum (pT) interval 20 < pjet;ch T < 100 GeV=c. They are also consistent with prior measurements carried out at the LH…
Measurement of charged jet production cross sections and nuclear modification in p–Pb collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV
2015
Charged jet production cross sections in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. Using the anti-kT algorithm, jets have been reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles with resolution parameters R = 0.2 and R = 0.4. The reconstructed jets have been corrected for detector effects and the underlying event background. To calculate the nuclear modification factor, RpPb, of charged jets in p–Pb collisions, a pp reference was constructed by scaling previously measured charged jet spectra at √s = 7 TeV. In the transverse momentum range 20 ≤ pT, ch jet ≤ 120 GeV/c, RpPb is found to be consistent with unity, indicating th…
Centrality dependence of particle production in p−Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
2015
We report measurements of the primary charged-particle pseudorapidity density and transverse momentum distributions in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and investigate their correlation with experimental observables sensitive to the centrality of the collision. Centrality classes are defined by using different event-activity estimators, i.e., charged-particle multiplicities measured in three different pseudorapidity regions as well as the energy measured at beam rapidity (zero degree). The procedures to determine the centrality, quantified by the number of participants (Npart) or the number of nucleon-nucleon binary collisions (Ncoll) are described. We show that, in contrast to Pb-Pb coll…
