A Color Image Database for Haze Model and Dehazing Methods Evaluation

2016

International audience; One of the major issues related to dehazing methods (single or multiple image based) evaluation is the absence of the haze-free image (ground-truth). This is also a problem when it concerns the validation of Koschmieder model or its subsequent dehazing methods. To overcome this problem, we created a database called CHIC (Color Hazy Image for Comparison), consisting of two scenes in controlled environment. In addition to the haze-free image, we provide 9 images of different fog densities. Moreover, for each scene, we provide a number of parameters such as local scene depth, distance from the camera of known objects such as Macbeth Color Checkers, their radiance, and t…

Automatic image enhancement by picture fusion

2005

This paper describes an automatic technique able to fuse different images of the same scene, acquired with different camera settings, in order to obtain an enhanced single representation of the interested. This allows to extend the functionalities (depth of field, dynamic range) of medium and low cost digital cameras. When Multi-Scale Decomposition (MSD) is used on differently focused images, magnification and blurring effects of lens focusing systems often compromise the final image with unpleasant artifacts. In our approach new techniques able to reduce these artifacts are introduced. Even if the algorithm has been essentially designed to extend depth of field it can be also used on multi…

Improved multi-resolution image fusion

2005

This work describes an automatic technique able to fuse different images of the same scene, acquired at different settings, in order to obtain an enhanced single representation of the scene of interest by an improved picture fusion scheme. This allows the extending of the functionalities (depth of field, dynamic range) of medium and low cost digital cameras. When multi-scale decomposition is used on multi-focused images, magnification effects of the lens focusing system cause an incorrect estimation of all pixels in the final image. In our approach new techniques able to reduce these artifacts are introduced. The algorithm has been applied both on full RGB and on color filter array (CFA) im…

Studies of methods and tools for the really mixed visual coherence applied to the patrimony

2013

The work described in this report has as a target the mixed reality device ray-on, developed by the on-situ company. This device, dedicated to cultural heritage and specifically architectural heritage, is meant to be installed on-site and shows the user an uchronic view of its surroundings. As the chosen stance is to display photo-realistic images, two trails were followed: the improvement of the real-virtual merging by reproducing accurately the real lighting on the virtual objects, and the development of a real-time segmentation method which is resilient to lighting changes.Regarding lighting reproduction, an image-based rendering method is used in addition to a high dynamic range capture…

Dissecting and Reassembling Color Correction Algorithms for Image Stitching

2018

This paper introduces a new compositional framework for classifying color correction methods according to their two main computational units. The framework was used to dissect fifteen among the best color correction algorithms and the computational units so derived, with the addition of four new units specifically designed for this work, were then reassembled in a combinatorial way to originate about one hundred distinct color correction methods, most of which never considered before. The above color correction methods were tested on three different existing datasets, including both real and artificial color transformations, plus a novel dataset of real image pairs categorized according to …

Acetic acid compared with i-scan imaging for detecting Barrett's esophagus: a randomized, comparative trial.

2013

Background Traditional surveillance in patients with Barrett's esophagus (BE) has relied on random biopsies. Targeted biopsies that use advanced imaging modalities may significantly improve detection of specialized columnar epithelium (SCE). Objective We compared the efficacy of targeted biopsies that used i -scan or acetic acid to random biopsies in the detection of SCE. Design Patients with visible columnar lined epithelium or known BE were randomized at a 1:1 ratio to undergo acetic acid application or i -scan with targeted biopsies. Setting Targeted biopsies were performed based on surface architecture according to the Guelrud classification followed by 4-quadrant biopsies. Patients A t…

NQS-Doped PDMS Solid Sensor: From Water Matrix to Urine Enzymatic Application

2021

The development of in situ analytical devices has gained outstanding scientific interest. A solid sensing membrane composed of 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate (NQS) derivatizing reagent embedded into a polymeric polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite was proposed for in situ ammonium (NH4+) and urea (NH2CONH2) analysis in water and urine samples, respectively. Satisfactory strategies were also applied for urease-catalyzed hydrolysis of urea, either in solution or glass-supported urease immobilization. Using diffuse reflectance measurements combined with digital image processing of color intensity (RGB coordinates), qualitative and quantitative analyte detection was assessed after the colorime…

2010

García-Caballero T, Grabau D, Green A R, Gregory J, Schad A, Kohlwes E, Ellis I O, Watts S & Mollerup J (2010) Histopathology56, 472–480 Determination of HER2 amplification in primary breast cancer using dual-colour chromogenic in situ hybridization is comparable to fluorescence in situ hybridization: a European multicentre study involving 168 specimens Aims: Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) can be used to reveal several genomic imbalances relevant to proper cancer diagnosis and to the correct treatment regime. However, FISH requires expensive and advanced fluorescence microscopes in addition to expertise in fluorescence microscopy. To determine whether a newly developed dual-colou…
