Tausta: Ylipainon hoidossa käytetään useimmiten kognitiiviseen rajoittamiseen pohjautuvia menetelmiä, joilla kuitenkin saavutetaan vain harvoin pysyviä tuloksia. The effectiveness of a five-session workshop on the distress of international students in Finland – a pilot study

The mental health of international students has become a concern, as they face high levels of psychological distress. We designed a five-week acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) workshop with two additional individual assessment meetings. The intervention aimed at helping international students attending a Finnish university to reduce their symptoms of stress, depression, and anxiety, and enhance skills of psychological flexibility. The post-assessment was conducted seven weeks after the pre-measurement. Abstract Statement of problem: This study aimed to analyse the ability of a model based on achievement motivation and self-determination theories to predict adherence to competitive sport. This model incorporated commitment as predictor of adherence. A prospective study was performed with a sample of 302 handball players aged between 14 and 18 years. Structural equation modelling gave support to the model proposed. Recent studies have described professional identity as the interplay between individual agency and social context. However, we need to understand how these are intertwined in different kinds of work settings. This paper focuses on teachers’ professional identity negotiations as involving the work organisation, the professional community and individual agency. OBJECTIVEThis study investigated the roles of adherence and usage activity in adolescents’ (n = 161) gains during a 5-week web intervention program based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).METHODProgram adherence was calculated as adherence percentage in relation to intended usage, whereas completion percentage, usage time, and usage weeks were used as indicators for usage activity. Subjective well-being was measured by self-reported life satisfaction and stress before and after the intervention.RESULTSFirst, regression analysis results showed that higher adherence predicted an increase in life satisfaction during intervention. Le opere esaminate si rivelano del tutto originali poiché permettono di inoltrarsi in un periodo della storia dell’arte in Sicilia che va dal Trecento all’Ottocento. Si esamina la diffusione e la circolazione delle reliquie da Roma alla Sicilia e la conseguente proliferazione, a seguito dei dettami del Concilio di Trento recepiti dai vari Sinodi diocesani, di sacre custodie in metallo prezioso o in legno. Vengono, infatti, indagati alcuni reliquiari d’argento che, custoditi nei Tesori siciliani, sono contestualizzati nella pertinente temperie storico-culturale. L’articolo, utilizzando documenti editi e inediti, indaga la produzione di Marco Li Puma e Gregorio Balsano, argentieri attivi in Sicilia nella seconda metà del Settecento. Il primo è attestato a Petralia Sottana, dove realizza diverse opere tra cui l’inedito servizio di cartagloria in argento del 1758 commissionatogli da don Gaetano Carapezza, procuratore dell’altare delle Anime del Purgatorio della Chiesa Madre, e a Petralia Soprana, centro in cui si trova l’unica opera firmata, la cassettina per elemosina custodita nel Tesoro della Matrice.
