Influence of the parameters molecular structure and granularity on the compactibility of a powder
1995
Drug Dev. Ind. Pharm. ISI Document Delivery No.: RP128 Times Cited: 3 Cited Reference Count: 14 Andres, c ndiaye, a thomas, c tromelin, a chaillot, b pourcelot, y; International audience; The aim of this study was to determine whether it is possible to obtain better characterization of materials in order to find out if these one are suitable in Quality Assurance for direct tableting. We tried to show that a methodological approach combining chemical, physical and technological aspects could control the direct compression process. We chose orthoboric acid as a study model for the direct compression. From a chemical point of view, our findings show only one crystalline molecular structure (RX…
Sintering of Fe2NiO4 with an internal binder: a way to obtain a very dense material
2003
Abstract The coupled synthesis and sintering of Fe2NiO4 can be carried out from the calcination under air at high temperatures (>1200 °C) of precompacted (under 12 MPa) pellets of different mixtures: NiO/α-Fe2O3; NiO/α-Fe2O3/Fe; NiO/α-Fe2O3/Ni. The densest material is obtained at 1200 °C only from the following mixture: NiO (40 mol%), α-Fe2O3 (50 mol%) and Ni (10 mol%). Because the metallic nickel is very ductile, it is used as an internal binder in order to enhance the precompacting of the samples. Moreover, the role of nickel is to enhance the sintering reaction. This route leads to a final material of relative density close to 98±2%.
Water retention behaviour of compacted and reconstituted scaly clays
2020
The paper presents the results of an experimental research devoted to investigate the response to suction variations of a scaly clay in compacted and reconstituted conditions. Different experimental techniques (axis translation, vapour equilibrium, dew point psychrometer suction measurements) were combined in order to explore the water retention properties in a wide suction range (0 ÷ 110 MPa). Experimental results allowed to define the water retention domains for a constant reference void ratio, highlighting the significant role of the microstructure on the response of the investigated clays. In particular, the collected results showed that in the low-medium suction range, the peculiar mic…
Long-term sealing ability of GuttaFlow versus Ah Plus using different obturation techniques.
2010
Objective. To compare the long-term sealing ability of GuttaFlow® using different obturation techniques. Study Design. Three hundred teeth, prepared with a crown-down technique, were divided into thirty experimental groups (n=10) to evaluate the apical and coronal leakage, at 3, 30 and 120 days, of lateral compaction gutta-percha + AH Plus?, lateral compaction gutta-percha + GuttaFlow®, single cone + AH Plus?, single cone + GuttaFlow®, and GuttaFlow® only. Results. Both coronal and apical leakage, at the three times of measurement, no significant differences were found among GuttaFlow® + lateral compaction gutta-percha and GuttaFlow® + single cone groups, whereas the only GuttaFlow® reached…
Sealing ability of lateral compaction and tapered single cone gutta-percha techniques in root canals prepared with stainless steel and rotary nickel …
2011
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability of lateral compaction and tapered single cone gutta-percha techniques in root canals prepared with stainless steel and rotary nickel titanium root canal instruments by fluid filtration method. Study design: The root canals were prepared with stainless steel (SS) and nickel titanium (NiTi) instruments. The canals prepared with SS were obturated with lateral compaction technique using .02 tapered cones and the canals prepared with NiTi instruments were obturated with lateral compaction technique using .02 tapered cones or 06 tapered single cones. The amount of leakage was evaluated by fluid filtration model. The results wer…
System B, Endo-Twinn and E-Fill. True temperatures inside the canal
2012
Background: The aim of this study is to verify the variations of the temperature inside the root canal with three different gutta-percha heating systems. Materials and Methods: A split-tooth model was built with a lateral groove at 3.5-mm from working length (WL) in order to insert a Chromel-Alumel K-type thermocouple placed in contact with gutta-percha. The thermocouple was connected to a digital thermometer. Sixty obturations were made with medium gutta-percha points. For 20 specimens the System B was used with the Buchanan fine plugger and the temperature was set at 200°C; for other 20 specimens the Endo-Twinn with a fine plugger was used and for the last 20 specimens we used the E-Fill …
Laboratory mix design of asphalt mixture containing reclaimed material
2014
This paper presents a study on the production of asphalt test specimens in the laboratory containing reclaimed asphalt. The mixtures considered were stone mastic asphalt concrete mixtures containing up to 30% of reclaimed asphalt. Specimens were compacted to the reference density obtained from the Marshall mix design. Gyration compaction method was used for preparing specimens for the experimental programme, while coring and cutting methods and X-ray computed tomography (CT) were used to investigate the change in properties within the specimens and to validate the selected methodology. The study concluded that gyratory compaction is suitable to produce homogeneous test specimens also for mi…
A Memetic Algorithm for Binary Image Reconstruction
2008
This paper deals with a memetic algorithm for the reconstruction of binary images, by using their projections along four directions. The algorithm generates by network flows a set of initial images according to two of the input projections and lets them evolve toward a solution that can be optimal or close to the optimum. Switch and compactness operators improve the quality of the reconstructed images which belong to a given generation, while the selection of the best image addresses the evolution to an optimal output.
Pseudodifferential operators on manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity
2003
to appear in Anal. Math.; Several examples of non-compact manifolds $M_0$ whose geometry at infinity is described by Lie algebras of vector fields $V \subset \Gamma(TM)$ (on a compactification of $M_0$ to a manifold with corners $M$) were studied by Melrose and his collaborators. In math.DG/0201202 and math.OA/0211305, the geometry of manifolds described by Lie algebras of vector fields -- baptised "manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity" there -- was studied from an axiomatic point of view. In this paper, we define and study the algebra $\Psi_{1,0,\VV}^\infty(M_0)$, which is an algebra of pseudodifferential operators canonically associated to a manifold $M_0$ with the Lie structure at …
Convergence for varying measures in the topological case
2023
In this paper convergence theorems for sequences of scalar, vector and multivalued Pettis integrable functions on a topological measure space are proved for varying measures vaguely convergent.
