L'influence de l'origine sociale sur les performances scolaires : par où passe-t-elle ?

Using PISA 2000 data, this study presents an international comparison of the way social origin influences reading comprehension performances, looking at a variety of variables, some external to the school system, others internal. A variable's effect is strong in proportion to the strength of its association to father's occupation and degree to which it favors performance. The study uses the method of path analysis to distinguish between these two aspects. The French situation is presented, then compared to twelve other European Union countries. En didactique des Mathématiques, mais plus généralement en sciences humaines, de nombreuses recherches utilisent des analyses qualitatives pour falsifier expérimentalement des hypothèses formulées a priori, c'est-à-dire en amont de la recherche. Une telle approche méthodologique, appliquée à une enquête, s'avère le plus souvent insuffisante pour analyser toutes les variables en jeu dans des phénomènes contingents d'enseignement/ apprentissage, même si dans certains cas (analyse ponctuelle de protocoles, de vidéos, etc.), elle permet de déceler quelques relations intéressantes. Artikkelen undersoker literacy-syn og kvalitetstrekk i abc-apper fra kommersielle produsenter ved a analysere ni abc-apper for norskspraklige forskolebarn. Undersokelsen er teoretisk forankra i sosiokulturell literacy-forskning og sosialsemiotiske perspektiver pa multimodalitet og semiotisk teknologi. Analysen viser at appene domineres av sju typer literacy-aktiviteter: bokstav-lyd-kopling, bokstavutforming, staving, hukommelsesaktiviteter, tekstproduksjon, lesing og sang. Cet article traite d’une « vérité inconfortable » (un mythe), à propos de la mise en place d’une politique ainsi que des pratiques équitables en matière de gestion du personnel, dans le système éducatif supérieur d’un pays admiré pour l’égalité sociale qui le caractérise.
