Infected persons by the fact of a public organism : is a fair compensation by the community realistic ? A graph-theory pproach
1999
The paper focuses on indirectly infected persons (persons infected by a person, infected by a person, etc., itself infected by a public organism, for AIDS, hepatitis C, etc.). It is assumed that fairness implies the national community to indemnify them. Graph theory is used to explain what is indirect infection. The concept of chains of infection, and their length is central. Re-infections are considered also because even individuals that are initially infected by another cause could become later indirectly infected by the public agent. The number of persons to be indemnified is larger than for direct infection, so the cost of compensation is higher, unless if compensation per capita is low…
Déni du travail et tyrannie des normes
2012
Based on the example of two quality processes deployed at the SNCF in the field of the service encounter, the aim of this article is to explore, from a clinical point of view, organizational mechanisms which encourage the denial of work. The norms of services previously defined contributed to the front office agents' denial of work, essentially because the respect of these norms became an ultimate finality. This situation has induced an "annoyed activity" (CLOT, 2009) among the front office agents, owing to the fact that the norms have been perceived as a hindrance to the accomplishment of a high-grade work. In the two previous practical examples, the reality (of work), the real work (in op…
The Norwegian Motion-Laboratory
2018
This paper contains an overview of the equipment currently available in the Norwegian Motion Laboratory, a description of the IT networking infrastructure in the laboratory, a GitHub link to open source code developed, description of the PyQt-based graphical user interface, presentation of robot forward and inverse kinematics, presentation of equations of motion for the suspended load motion and a description of the full system kinematics. The paper ends with a list of research experiments and publications from the laboratory to date.
Tracing the origin of the compensasome: evolutionary history of DEAH helicase and MYST acetyltransferase gene families.
2001
Dosage compensation in Drosophila is mediated by a complex of proteins and RNAs called the "compensasome." Two of the genes that encode proteins of the complex, maleless (mle) and males-absent-on-the-first (mof), respectively, belong to the DEAH helicase and MYST acetyltransferase gene families. We performed comprehensive phylogenetic and structural analyses to determine the evolutionary histories of these two gene families and thus to better understand the origin of the compensasome. All of the members of the DEAH and MYST families of the completely sequenced Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Caenorhabditis elegans genomes, as well as those so far (June 2000) found in Drosophila melanogaster (f…
Appréciation d'un aliment nouveau et contrôle de la prise énergétique chez l'enfant : Impact de l'apprentissage
2013
In a context of high rate of obesity, understanding early formation of child eating behaviour, in qualitative and quantitative terms, is crucial. This work shows that new vegetable acceptance is positively associated with the introduction of variety since the beginning of the complementary feeding, and would be more difficult in 2 year old children. Moreover, the liking of a new food (vegetable or beverage) increases after familiarisation by repeated exposure. A transitional association between the new food and calories induces more stable liking than repeated exposure. However, a high energy density could limit intake of the new food by learned satiation. This result supports an ability of…

Thermodynamics of binding between α- and β-cyclodextrins and some p-nitro-aniline derivatives: reconsidering the enthalpy–entropy compensation effect
2004
Abstract The thermodynamics of binding between native α- and β-cyclodextrin towards several p -nitro-aniline derivatives was examined, in order to gain further insights about the occurrence of different interaction modes for the two hosts. Valuable information was achieved regarding the ‘expanded hydrophobic sphere’ of α-cyclodextrin. Furthermore, very interesting and unexpected aspects of the behavior of β-cyclodextrin were enlightened, such as the crucial role played by hydrogen bond interactions. Experimental data were examined under the perspective of the ‘enthalpy–entropy compensation effect’, and some ideas about this topic are discussed.
